Job summary

H3X Technologies is seeking a Spring/Summer Intern to join the design engineering team on real hardware programs in Colorado. You will contribute to electromagnetic design, analysis, and tooling, seeing work from simulation through to physical test data, with opportunities to impact projects across high-power electric motor development.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a BS, MS, or PhD in EE or ME, have Python experience, familiarity with electromagnetic analysis, and a hands-on approach.

Qualifications

• Pursuing BS/MS/PhD in EE/ME or related field.
• Coursework or project experience in electric machines and electromagnetics.
• Experience with FEA for electromagnetic analysis (JMAG strongly preferred; Ansys Maxwell, MotorCAD or similar acceptable).
• Working knowledge of machine sizing, magnetic/electric loading, winding design, geometry vs performance.

Responsibilities

• Build and run finite element models to predict motor performance (torque, losses, efficiency, thermal).
• Perform electrical machine sizing and preliminary design trades.
• Develop Python-based analysis and post-processing tooling for simulations and bench data.
• Support multi-physics optimization spanning EM, thermal, and structural domains.
• Correlate simulation results with dynamometer and instrumentation data; close loop between model and measurement.
• Document methods and results clearly for future reuse.
