Job summary

Amazon Kuiper Manufacturing Enterprises LLC seeks an experienced EMC/EMI engineer to lead electromagnetic environmental effects testing for the Leo program. You will collaborate with hardware, harnessing, and avionics teams to define test strategies, execute MIL-STD-461/DO-160 tests, and generate comprehensive reports.

The role requires a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and 3+ years in EMI/EMC analysis, with hands-on experience in test setups and equipment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years of EMI/EMC analysis, testing, or compliance experience.
  • Experience developing specifications, verification plans, tests, and root-cause investigations.
  • Experience with EMC lab test equipment, setups, and configurations.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with hardware design teams as SME for electromagnetic environmental effects testing.
  • Support EMC test procedures; configure tests and perform MIL-STD-461/DO-160 testing.
  • Work with harnessing team to develop EMI mitigation strategies for harnesses.
  • Develop and maintain EMC test software and generate reports.
  • Troubleshoot and investigate testing with Avionics teams across Amazon Leo.

Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Key job responsibilities
  • Working with hardware design teams as a subject matter expert in electromagnetic environmental effects testing throughout the development process
  • Completion of EMC test procedures by supporting teams with test configurations and performing testing to MIL-STD-461 and/or DO-160 requirements
  • Collaborating with Leo’s harnessing team to develop analysis and mitigation strategies for Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) in harnesses
  • Development and maintenance of EMC test software and report generation
  • Troubleshooting/Development investigation testing in conjunction with Avionics teams across Amazon Leo
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience with EMI/EMC analysis, testing, and/or compliance
  • Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans, functional test procedures, and root cause investigations
  • Experience with EMC lab test equipment, setup, and configurations
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in spaceflight avionics testing as an electromagnetic environmental effects engineer
  • Experience in spacecraft or high-reliability electronics environments
  • Knowledge and understanding of EMC industry standards and specifications for aerospace (MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-1541A, DO-160, etc)
  • Experience with using analysis tools to define requirements for emissions and susceptibility of avionics components
  • Experience modelling electromagnetic environments using computational SW (CST, HFSS, etc).

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
