Job description

At San Mateo Medical Center, we are committed to providing exceptional healthcare services. We are seeking an Electrograph Technician I/II to operate and maintain electrocardiographs (EKG), prepare patients, and assist cardiologists during cardiac imaging studies. The role includes training to operate electroencephalograph (EEG), electromyographic (EMG), and related equipment for neurological testing.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A certificate of completion of an electrocardiography course from an accredited institution.
  • Preferred experience in a hospital, clinic, or diagnostic lab setting, especially with EKGs and cardiac testing.
  • Experience with Electronic Health Records systems like EPIC.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a compassionate approach to patient care.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.

The current vacancy is full-time and regular.

Distinguishing Characteristics:

Electrograph Technician I ($30.47 - $38.10 hourly) is an entry-level position. Incumbents perform EKG procedures under supervision and may advance to Technician II after training and demonstrated proficiency.

Electrograph Technician II ($35.14 - $43.93 hourly) is a journey-level position responsible for independent operation of EKG equipment and assisting with EEG and EMG procedures.

Note: The list generated may be used for future vacancies. Duties include operating EKG and related equipment, assisting with procedures, maintaining equipment, clerical tasks, and documenting patient information.

Knowledge and skills include:

  • Principles and procedures of electrocardiograph and neurological testing equipment.
  • Patient care and recordkeeping practices.

Qualifications:

  • Electrograph Technician I: Completion of an electrocardiography course; experience preferred.
  • Electrograph Technician II: One year of full-time EKG experience; course completion required.
