Responsibilities

  • Conduct focused neuromuscular histories and physical examinations to establish differential diagnoses for electrodiagnostic studies.
  • Perform NCV testing and needle EMG using specialized diagnostic equipment.
  • Analyze wave patterns, latency, and amplitude data; generate comprehensive diagnostic reports.
  • Explain procedures clearly to patients and adhere to safety and infection control protocols.

Locations: Langhorne, Rockledge, Collegeville and Havertown

Job Summary

The Electrodiagnostic Provider is responsible for performing, evaluating, and interpreting Electromyography (EMG) and Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS). This role is vital in evaluating, diagnosing, and helping map treatment plans for patients presenting with complex neuromuscular and musculoskeletal disorders, including radiculopathy, peripheral neuropathies, carpal tunnel syndrome, and focal nerve injuries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Assessment: Conduct focused neuromuscular histories and physical examinations to establish differential diagnoses and determine the appropriate scope of the electrodiagnostic study.
  • Diagnostic Testing: Perform and administer nerve conduction velocity (NCV) testing and needle electromyography (EMG) utilizing specialized diagnostic equipment.
  • Interpretation & Reporting: Analyze raw wave patterns, latency, and amplitude data. Formulate precise, comprehensive diagnostic reports integrating findings with the patient's broader clinical picture.
  • Patient Care & Safety: Explain the technical procedures clearly to patients to mitigate anxiety, ensure physical comfort during invasive needle exams, and strictly adhere to clinical safety and infection control protocols.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Maintain meticulous electronic health records (EHR). Ensure all diagnostic data, billing codes (e.g., CPT 95886, 95911), and clinical justifications meet stringent compliance and insurance reimbursement standards.
Education

If Physician:

  • Education: Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution or
  • Residency/Fellowship: Successful completion of an accredited residency in Neurology or Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) / Physiatry.
  • Board Certification: Board eligible or certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN), the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR), or specialized certification from the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine (ABEM).
  • Licensure: Active, unrestricted state medical license and DEA registration.

If Physical Therapist

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program (DPT, MPT, or MSPT).
  • Licensure: Active, unrestricted license to practice Physical Therapy in the practicing state.
  • Board Certification: Board-Certified Clinical Electrophysiologic Specialist (ECS) through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) is highly preferred (or active eligibility and an established timeline to sit for the ABPTS exam).
  • Life Support: Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Experience
  • Minimum of one year of experience with nerve conduction studies and EMG in a medical office or healthcare setting
