Premier Orthopaedics is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to support a Hand Surgeon in the clinic and as a First Assist in the OR. The role involves initial and post-op evaluations, imaging orders, patient education, and multi-disciplinary coordination in a dynamic orthopedic setting.

Located in Pennsylvania with opportunities to collaborate across an extensive network; PA/NP with RNFA and DEA license preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program or NP with RNFA certification.
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Active PA license (or eligibility) and DEA license.
• Minimum 1 year of PA experience with shoulder or related experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial evaluations with supervising physician for new and post-op patients.
• Evaluate post-op patients independently when supervisor is away.
• Dictate office notes in the EMR system.
• Perform suture removal and dressings.
• Order and review X-rays; coordinate imaging with the physician.
• Order additional diagnostic tests as needed.
• Review diagnostic reports and triage urgent needs.
• Educate patients about condition and post-op plan.
• Answer medical questions from patients and coordinate care with the team.
• First-assist in surgery and suture wounds.
• Communicate with therapists, trainers, and physicians involved in care.

POSITION TITLE: Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner

Location: West Chester, Philadelphia (Navy Yard), KOP and Exton

Organization: Premier Orthopaedics, in partnership with Philadelphia Hand to Shoulder

Overview

Premier Orthopaedics, in partnership with Philadelphia Hand to Shoulder, is seeking a dedicated and skilled APP to support a Hand Surgeon in the clinic and occasionally in the OR as a First Assist.

Position Summary

Responsibilities

• Perform initial evaluations of new patients, post-op patients, and follow up patients along with the supervising physician


• Evaluate and treatment post-op patients independently when supervising physician is away


• Dictate patient office note in Company HER system


• Perform suture remove & provide dressings


• Order appropriate x-rays & review images with supervising physician


• Order other appropriate diagnostic studies


• Review diagnostic reports to determine if patient needs to be seen sooner than already scheduled


• Alert patients of any urgent results


• Order medications (Must have DEA license)


• Search Pennsylvania Drug Monitoring program prior to prescribing any narcotics


• Educate patients about condition and post-op course/treatment


• Answer patient phone calls pertaining to medical questions/concerns


• Coordinate patient care needs with administrative members of team and assist as needed with administrative tasks


• Communicate with other medical specialists involved with patient’s care including occupational therapists, trainers and physicians


• First-assist in surgery


• Suture deep and superficial wounds

Qualifications

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program or Nurse Practitioner with RNFA Cert.


• Bachelor’s degree required.

Licenses & Certifications

• Active and unrestricted Pennsylvania Physician Assistant (or eligibility to obtain).

Experience

• Minimum of 1 year as a Physician Assistant with Shoulder OR Experience.


• Familiarity with Athena or other EMR systems preferred.
