Job summary

The Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education is offering post-bachelor's internships at the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense (USAMRICD). Interns will engage in research projects related to medical diagnostics for toxic chemical exposure.

Responsibilities include applying electrochemical methods, testing medical devices, and analyzing data. Candidates must have a relevant Bachelor's degree, U.S. citizenship, and a minimum GPA of 3.00. Opportunities to conduct independent projects are available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an eligible chemistry, materials science, or engineering discipline received within five years of the appointment start date.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• Minimum overall GPA of 3.00.
• Eligible disciplines: Chemistry and Materials Sciences, Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Apply electrochemical methods for biosensor-based in vitro diagnostics.
• Test and evaluate medical device efficacy.
• Synthesize biopolymers and develop novel chemistries.
• Plan and execute experiments.
• Analyze experimental results.
• Conduct analytical chemistry using instrumentation.
• Develop presentations based on experimental data.
