Job summary

RUSDS is seeking an Electro-Optical Technician with active SECRET clearance to join our Production team. The role involves assembling electro-optical and electronic assemblies, testing, troubleshooting, and documenting processes in a clean-room environment.

You will read schematics, interpret IPC/WHMA standards, and handle sensitive optical components. The candidate should have strong attention to detail, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and experience with hands-on optical/electronic assembly.

Qualifications

  • Preferred 1 year Electrical/Mechanical/Optical assembly experience.
  • Certification in high reliability electronic assembly processes per IPC/WHMA-620 and IPC-610 preferred.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US and be eligible to obtain a passport.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble products/sub-assemblies in a clean room per drawings or procedures.
  • Use hand/power tools and test equipment (oscilloscopes, pulse generators, meters, power supplies).
  • Read blueprints/schematics and perform optical/electronic assembly tasks.
  • Ensure IPC Class 3 standards for assemblies and cables; inspect and document results.
  • Handle, inspect, and clean optical elements; work with ESD & FOD sensitive products.
  • Follow procedures, multi-task, and lift up to 50 lbs as required.

Electro-Optical Technician W/ ACTIVE Secret Clearance

Description

We are seeking a skilled Optical Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Testing, documentation, troubleshooting, and inspection of Electro/Optical assemblies. Assemble Chassis Components, Electro-optic, and Electronic Assemblies from various forms of documentation and quality or engineering specifications, utilizing proper tools, equipment, and processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assembling products or sub-assemblies in a clean room manufacturing environment, according to verbal or written instructions or by following drawings, procedures, wiring lists or set operating procedures.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, torque tools and/or production equipment to include manual and automated testing equipment such as:
    • Oscilloscopes
    • Pulse generators
    • Meters
    • Power supplies
  • Read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • Working and performing a wide variety of electronic, mechanical, and/or electro-mechanical assembly operations on assemblies or sub-assemblies, in small scale.
  • Assemble populated PCB, connectors and other components into housings and make required interconnections and other techniques as specified to IPC Class 3 standards.
  • Fabricate Cable assemblies using soldering, wire crimping, and other techniques as required to IPC /WHMA-A-620, Class 3 standards.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Visual Acuity to correctable 20/20 is required.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize tasks

  • Lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Repetitive hand and arm movement
  • Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to follow directions, pay attention to detail and identify damaged product

  • Preparation and Application of RTV
  • Experience handling, inspecting, and cleaning optical elements, electronic packaging and working with ESD & FOD sensitive product

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Education

  • Preferred 1 year Electrical/Mechanical/Optical assembly experience, to include wiring.
  • Certification in high reliability electronic assembly processes, per J-STD-001, IPC-A-610 & IPC/WHMA-A-620 (preferred).

Basic Employment Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills, self-motivated, capable of multitasking and have high attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret various forms of assembly documentation.
  • Ability to handle materials safely and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US and be eligible to obtain a passport.
  • Must pass Security background screening process
  • Must be able to work over-time as needed.
  • Must hold SECRET CLEARANCE
