Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation in El Segundo, CA seeks an Electro Optical Remote Sensing Engineer to join the Integrated Sensor Design and Analysis Department (ISDAD) within MPD. You will model and simulate remote sensing systems, including overhead infrared missile early warning and tracking concepts, and develop data products for defense and national security applications.

Selected candidate will work full time on-site at our El Segundo facility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or another related STEM discipline from an accredited university, pursuing or conferring within 12 months.
• 0-1 year of industry work experience
• Academic or project research related experience in electro-optical sensor/system modeling and simulation
• Experience using MATLAB, Python, IDL, C/C++, or Fortran for modeling and simulation
• Interpersonal skills to coordinate with internal teams and government customers
• Willingness to travel domestically
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance (US citizenship required)
• Transcripts required

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing electro-optical modeling expertise for Overhead Persistent Infrared sensing applications
• Leverage physics-based modeling to support development of new remote sensing concepts and performance requirements
• Create and validate synthetic imagery for remote sensor testing
• Develop scene generation solutions and support rapid acquisition sensor evaluations
• Collaborate with internal program offices and government personnel to identify modeling needs
• Document technical findings in reports and peer-reviewed publications
