Job description

Amentum is currently seeking an Electro-Optical Engineer II to support the PM Soldier Survivability (PM SSV) project office under Program Executive Office (PEO) Soldier, Natick, MA. This position offers an opportunity to be part of a dynamic team focused on providing enhanced protection, equipment, and aviation life support capabilities to ensure combat overmatch and mission success.

Role and Responsibilities

• Provide technical support and analysis for sensor prototypes and systems, including thermal imagers and image intensifiers.
• Translate military operational and mission requirements into system concepts and performance specifications.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation such as specifications, drawings, interface requirements, and engineering changes.
• Participate in program reviews, design reviews, and IPTs as the project engineer or technical expert.
• Evaluate design efforts for integration across disciplines, ensuring analysis adequacy, and optimizing size, weight, and power (SWaP-C).
• Review test plans, procedures, reports, and failure analyses for technical adequacy.
• Conduct or monitor testing to assess system performance and compliance, evaluating risks and meeting specifications.
• Present briefings and demonstrations to senior managers and industry partners.
• Review and initiate engineering change proposals, waivers, and deviations, and conduct configuration audits.
• Investigate failures or performance issues, ensuring root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Recommend approaches for integrating electro-optic components into prototypes to meet user requirements.
• Coordinate R&D efforts with DOD, labs, and international forums to leverage resources.
• Review program management documents for technical accuracy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Optical Engineering or equivalent, with four years of relevant experience.

Security Clearance

• Active Secret clearance required. US citizenship is mandatory to obtain this clearance.
