Job summary

HyperLight Corporation seeks an Electro-Optic Modulator Design Engineer in Cambridge, MA, to design, optimize, and characterize high-speed modulators. You will own devices end-to-end, from concept to production, collaborating with cross-functional teams and advancing the TFLN Chiplet platform.

The role requires 6+ years in physics/engineering or an MS/PhD, with strong RF, optical intuition, and proficiency in EM tools. Competitive compensation and full benefits accompany onsite work in Cambridge.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of relevant work experience in RF photonics or related field.
  • Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong publications, patents, or products showing independent innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full development of modulator designs from initial study through concept, simulation, tapeout, validation, and handoff to production.
  • Collaborate with layout, process development, manufacturing, test, and product teams to design electro-optic components for photonic ICs.
  • Perform high-frequency RF (beyond 100 GHz) and electro-optic simulations using tools like COMSOL, HFSS, and VPIphotonics; develop Python tools.
  • Develop and implement high-speed test and calibration techniques using tunable lasers, SMUs, bias controllers, VNAs, oscilloscopes, and AWGs.
  • Serve as a technical expert within HyperLight across the product lifecycle, from concept to customer engagement and production.
