Job summary

BN Associates Inc. is seeking an experienced electro‑mechanical engineer to define verification methodologies and lead validation across complex systems.

You will design and implement scalable test fixtures, manage coverage metrics, and drive FMEA and GD&T activities in collaboration with process and manufacturing teams. The role requires hands-on fixture design, data capture and analysis using Python, and extensive experience with GD&T, CMMs and DAQ hardware.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field; equivalent practical experience
• 8+ years of electro-mechanical engineering experience with mechanical validation/verification or reliability testing
• Experience authoring and executing mechanical validation and reliability test plans with defined acceptance criteria
• Hands-on experience designing and building test fixtures and instrumented rigs, including sensor selection, mounting, calibration, and measurement-uncertainty assessment
• Proficiency with Python for test automation, instrument control, and data analysis (NumPy/Pandas)
• Experience with I/O and data acquisition: analog/digital I/O, DAQ hardware, serial interfaces (SPI/I2C/UART/USB/Ethernet), sensor signal conditioning, and motion control
• Experience interpreting mechanical drawings and applying GD&T; metrology and inspection equipment (CMM, optical/vision measurement, 3D scanning)
• Experience applying statistical methods to test design and interpretation (DOE, sample size justification, Weibull, SPC)

Responsibilities

• Define mechanical verification and validation methodologies for each system with researchers, architects and product design teams
• Perform core verification for thermal, vibration, mechanical stress testing, etc
• Define and track detailed test plans for the different modules and top-level systems
• Define, architect, design and drive implementation of scalable test infrastructure and custom mechanical test fixtures
• Keep track of coverage metrics and bugs encountered and resolutions
• Own execution, interpretation and reporting of mechanical system-level verification and validation work
• Drive FMEA, failure analysis, tolerance analysis, gauge R&R, and GD&T activities for product scalability with process, manufacturing and REL teams
• Design, build, and qualify electro-mechanical test fixtures and rigs—motorized/actuated stages, load/displacement fixtures, automated cycling and don/doff testers, vibration and drop setups
• Implement machine I/O and control: sensor and actuator wiring, motion control, microcontrollers/PLCs, and digital/analog I/O interfaces between test hardware and host software
