Job description

This position is designed to perform skilled electrical and mechanical maintenance work on equipment used to ensure the effective treatment of the municipalities’ water supply by troubleshooting and repairing various types of plant equipment, buildings, and property.

  1. Install, repair, and overhaul pumps, motors, and other equipment used in water treatment plants. Repair existing piping and pipe-fitting, replace bearings, mechanical seals, couplings, and other parts as needed.
  2. Test the performance of electromechanical assemblies using test instruments.
  3. Inspect and troubleshoot electrical controls and electronic equipment, performing necessary preventative maintenance and repairs, e.g., UV treatment equipment, inline meters, etc.
  4. Perform preventive maintenance work on equipment, e.g., clean filters, oil and lubricate parts, etc.
  5. Be proficient in personal computer use with applicable office software and Windows programs.
  6. Maintain heating and cooling systems.
  7. Maintain water booster stations, including electrical systems and plant motor control centers.
  8. Operate motorized equipment as necessary, e.g., forklift, overhead crane, and related equipment.
  9. Utilize computers for SCADA monitoring, data input, work order tracking, and other technology uses.
  10. Follow all safety practices and procedures.
  11. Utilize various software applications to document activities.
  12. Operate Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) for control systems.
  13. Provide relief duties as a Water Treatment Plant Operator as needed.
  14. Collect water samples (routine and emergency) for water quality analysis and microbiological testing, e.g., depressurizations, new lines, etc.
  15. Perform other related duties as required.
*Position is subject to recall, overtime, and working outside regularly assigned hours.
*Work is often performed in the absence of direct supervision.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid OH Driver’s License.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Mid/High degree of computer literacy.
  • Combination of training and work experience demonstrating the skills, knowledge, and abilities needed to perform the essential duties.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years’ experience in electrical/electronic mechanic maintenance.
  • Knowledge of programmable logic controllers, data and signal transmission systems, and pumping systems.
  • Class I EPA License.
