Job summary

MillerKnoll, Inc. is seeking an Electro-Mechanical Technician to support maintenance and continuous improvement in our manufacturing facilities.

You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a range of equipment, from hydraulic and pneumatic systems to PLC-driven automation, ensuring safe and efficient operations. This role requires hands-on maintenance experience, the ability to read complex drawings, and a collaborative mindset to work across teams.

Qualifications

  • Read and use mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical drawings/schematics.
  • Possess a forklift license or ability to obtain one.
  • Welding experience (MIG/TIG) or willingness to learn.
  • Basic PLC understanding and ladder logic familiarity (Allen Bradley a plus).
  • Strong teamwork and communication within the organization.
  • Proficient with Windows, Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Attend service calls and provide quality workmanship promptly.
  • Repair and maintain plant equipment including hydraulic/pneumatic systems, conveyors, servo drives, motors, PLCs.
  • Follow lockout/tagout, arc flash, confined space, and hot work procedures for safety.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks effectively and efficiently.
  • Use drawings/schematics to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Assist with installing/modifying/updating equipment as needed.
  • Create detailed repair reports in CMMS.

POSITION PROFILE

This position is under the direction of the Maintenance Manager. The Electro-Mechanical Technician position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties with minimal supervision from creating a safe work environment to assisting with production equipment troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining in order to support the achievement of MillerKnoll's business goals and objectives.

DAILY DUTIES
  • Attends to service calls and provides quality workmanship in a timely manner
  • Repairs and maintains plant equipment such as, but not limited to, hydraulic/pneumatic equipment (cylinders, valves, controls, & sensors), conveyor systems, part fixtures, servo drives/motors, electrical motors, automated manufacturing equipment, bearings, safety sensors, motion controls, sewing/textile equipment, control systems, and PLCs
  • Utilizes proper lockout/tagout, arc flash, confined space, and hot work permit procedures to maintain a safe environment while following EHS/regulatory procedures
  • Performs Preventative Maintenance tasks effectively and efficiently
  • Utilizes mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical drawings/schematics where applicable to assist with troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and/or repairs
  • Helps with installing, modifying, and/or updating of equipment as required
  • Creates detailed reports of repairs performed on equipment with CMMS
  • Follows and promotes GMPs and other quality programs related to the maintenance department
  • Maintains a clean work/production environment daily and after maintenance work has been performed
  • Participates in Continuous Improvement events including Kaizens
  • Required to work other assigned shifts as to meet business needs
  • Performs other duties as required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Able to read, understand, and utilize mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical drawings/schematics
  • Has a forklift license or the willingness/ability to attain and keep one
  • Has welding knowledge/experience or the willingness/ability to become proficient in welding (MIG/TIG)
  • Has a basic understanding of PLC systems & Ladder Logic (Allen Bradley a plus)
  • Possesses interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships within the team and the organization
  • Understands and utilizes Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Possesses a high level of urgency and can work with minimal supervision
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Familiar with CMMS for Preventative Maintenance data input and Inventory Management (Maximo a plus)

Minimum Qualifications
  • Possesses a High school diploma or GED with a technical certification in related field
  • Has 2-5 years of manufacturing or industrial maintenance experience with the ability to work in a team setting or alone
  • Has 2+ years of mechanical, electrical, and PLC experience
  • Has prior troubleshooting and Preventative Maintenance experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Possesses an Associate Degree in maintenance, mechatronics, or an engineering related discipline
  • Has used Root Cause analysis methodology
Pay:

Up to $35 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
