Job summary

Paktron, a member of the Quantic Electronics family, seeks an Electro-Mechanical Technician to oversee the performance and maintenance of production and facility machinery. This role handles repairs, troubleshooting, upgrades, and installations; supports processes to sustain efficiency and product quality.

Expect hours from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Collaborate with operations and engineering, perform preventative maintenance, manage inventory, and document work.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED with 3-5 years machine maintenance experience, or an associate degree in engineering with 1-2 years related experience.
  • Able to fix and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment and facilities.
  • Able to read mechanical drawings and wiring diagrams; read schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Setup and repair production equipment.
  • Provide engineering process support and improve manufacturing efficiency and quality.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and upgrades; coordinate with suppliers as needed.
  • Assemble automation equipment from drawings and schematics with engineering staff.
  • Maintain inventory, order parts, and document work performed.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, electronic and mechanical breakdowns.
  • Repair components (motors, cylinders, relays, gears, solenoids) and power supplies.
  • Create reports and maintain shop organization and safety.
  • Schedule regular maintenance with managers and assist with other duties.

Job Summary:

The Electro-Mechanical Technician will oversee the performance and maintenance of production and facility machinery. This position is responsible for equipment repairs, troubleshooting, upgrades, and installations; process support; preventative maintenance; and facilities maintenance. This role interfaces with operations and engineering to help maintain production efficiency and product quality. This role requires effective time and priority management, with engineering support available as needed.

Expected Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Requirements
Duties/Responsibilities
  • Setup and repair production equipment
  • Engineering process support (i.e. tooling set-up, equipment start-up, etc.). Work with operators and engineers to improve manufacturing efficiency and product quality
  • Preventative maintenance, equipment repairs and/or upgrades. Work with engineering staff and/or suppliers to maintain machines and operations
  • Work independently and with engineering staff to assemble automation equipment using drawings and electrical schematics
  • Maintain equipment inventory and coordinate with purchasing to sustain inventory. Inspect and receive incoming equipment and/or machined parts
  • Troubleshoot electrical, electronic and mechanical breakdowns.
  • Work from prints, electrical schematics, machinery and equipment manuals to diagnose production equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Repair and replace air cylinders, hydraulic cylinders, meters, AC and DC motors, tension systems, bearings, relays, contactors, piping, vacuum pumps, counters, gears, and solenoids.
  • Troubleshoot and repair large walk-in ovens, precision electronic equipment, power supplies, PLC’s, and other electronic equipment.
  • Records and reports damaged, worn, or broken parts.
  • Orders and installs replacement parts for machines.
  • Prepare reports documenting work performed.
  • Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.
  • Coordinates with managers to schedule regular maintenance on machines.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain facility and grounds.
Required Skills, Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or GED with minimum 3-5 years of machine maintenance experience, or an associate degree in engineering and 1-2 years of related experience.
  • Proficiency in fixing and troubleshooting manufacturing equipment and facilities.
  • Knowledge of mechanical devices (i.e. motors, pumps, pneumatic valves).
  • Ability to read and understand basic mechanical drawings
  • Strong ability to work independently, identify issues, and resolve them efficiently
  • Capacity to work effectively in fast-paced production environment. Willingness and ability to learn and grow with role
  • Basic computer skills and aptitude for learning maintenance software
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate with others maintenance activities around the production schedule as needed
  • Ability to use machining tools (i.e. lathe, mill) and measuring devices
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic electrical devices (i.e. ovens, motor starters, switches, fuses, breakers). Ability to read and understand basic wiring diagrams and electrical schematics. Knowledge of 3-phase electrical power
  • Self-driven with strong time management skills and an appreciation for project timelines
  • Experience identifying environmental, health, and safety risks and implementing corrective actions
  • Time management and organization skills.
  • Must possess a collaborative team-oriented mindset and personality with a hands-on can-do attitude.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and PowerPoint.
  • Willing and able to learn other applications as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work on equipment at floor level
  • Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery.
  • Prolonged standing on hard surfaces during shift
  • Walking to various stations or areas of the production floor.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, or kneeling to access machinery, products, or materials.
  • Ability to handle small tools, parts, and machinery with precision.
  • Visual acuity for reading measurements, instructions, and monitoring equipment.
  • Hearing ability to detect alarms, machinery sounds, or verbal instructions in a noisy environment.
