Job summary

PowerToFly in Fort Smith, Arkansas is seeking a multi-skilled technician to maintain complex manufacturing equipment and perform troubleshooting and repairs. The ideal candidate will have over 3 years of experience, specifically in hydraulic/pneumatic and mechanical drive systems.

Applicants must be able to work independently, and effectively communicate and document tasks in SAP. This is a safety-sensitive position, ensuring equipment reliability and operational efficiency within a team-oriented environment.

Qualifications

  • More than one year of experience in a similar role is required.
  • Preferred 3 years of Journeyman experience.
  • Ability to read blueprints (P&ID) and operate CMM.

Position Summary

Multi-skilled individual with primary responsibility to maintain equipment in a proactive safe manner; identify, troubleshoot and repair both mechanical and electrical abnormalities on all factory equipment. Perform all preventative maintenance as scheduled to drive down performance losses and increase equipment reliability. Build operator technical skills and capability.

In alignment with Act 593(B), this position is considered safety sensitive as this employee responsible for repairing and maintaining all machinery.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Responsible for startup activities: actively participating in pre-shift meeting, receiving PM’s and work orders and getting tools ready for the day ahead. Utilize digital tools and tablets to input data into SAP and other online tools including Digital Manufacturing Operations (DMO).
  • Maintain operations by answering calls on equipment, identifying defects, executing preventative and predictive maintenance plans. Requires ability to work independently toward general results. Must originate, plan, adapt, invent and contrive to accomplish tasks. Job requires close attention to detail with work pace generally well above normal. Review maintenance plans and optimize to drive reliability of equipment. Coach operator skills with adjustment/changeover improvements in existing process.
  • Must create & maintain various forms of paperwork such as notifications, work orders, breakdown work orders as well as checking tasks and entering time in SAP. Participate in Problem Solving for line improvements, deviations, Safety and Quality failures.
  • Maintain housekeeping in work area through sweeping, cleaning tools and shop equipment after being used and keeping work area clean. Review required spare parts to ensure accurate bill of materials. Build technical procedures. Use, validate and redline engineering drawings (electrical and mechanical).

Must communicate to next shift by handing‑off breakdown work to on‑coming shifts so those employees can know what has been completed and what is left to be completed. Employee must also enter his/her time in SAP and put tools away. All partially completed and completed work must be documented correctly in SAP and as per SOPs.

Experience

Position requires more than one-year experience on this job or related jobs in the plant or elsewhere. Incumbent is preferred to have 3 years of Journeyman experience maintaining, repairing and trouble‑shooting the following: complex manufacturing equipment, hydraulic/pneumatic drive systems, mechanical drive systems, packaging equipment, basic electrical knowledge, welding and fabrication, basic machining skills, basic computer skills as well as being able to read blueprints (P&ID) and operate CMM (SAP/EL) computer maintenance manager.
