Job description

Custom Building Products is currently interviewing for two Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Technicians at our California, Bell Plant. These technicians will be responsible for preventative and predictive maintenance of our manufacturing plant and facilities. Core Duties / Responsibilities
  1. Perform preventative and predictive maintenance with minimal supervision, demonstrating proficiency in mechanical power transmission, electrical apparatuses, PLCs, electrical controls, and software systems.
  2. Execute Lock Out / Tag Out procedures consistently.
  3. Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and instructions.
  4. Complete comprehensive preventative maintenance work orders daily.
  5. Troubleshoot and repair material handling systems, robotics, compressors, pneumatic systems, vacuums, conveyors, pumps, hydraulics, scales, mixers, presses, VFDs, servos, gearboxes, shafts, etc.
  6. Service and repair utilities and facilities equipment, including air conditioning, plumbing, electrical systems, and lighting.
  7. Fabricate equipment and perform safeguarding repairs and upgrades, including welding (MIG, arc).
  8. Manage daily inventory of parts and materials needed for repairs and projects.
  9. Participate in capital projects and new installations, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with local codes to improve plant performance.
  10. Drive continuous improvement and implement safety procedures daily.
  11. Recommended Skills
  • PLC knowledge and programming, including software experience.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting, diagram reading, blueprint reading, and conduit installation skills.
  • Mechanical troubleshooting skills for fast-paced production lines.
  • Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of applicable experience in a heavy industrial environment with electrical/mechanical systems and conveying equipment.
  • Excellent fabrication skills and blueprint reading ability.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with strong math skills.
  • Knowledge of standard maintenance practices, tools, and shop equipment.
  • Understanding of occupational hazards and OSHA safety training experience.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Positive attitude and effective communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts (1st, 2nd, 3rd) and overtime as needed.
  • Availability for callbacks and adherence to safety and work policies.
