Electro-Mechanical Technician Job Description
Job OverviewWe are looking for an experienced Electro-Mechanical Technician to install, maintain, and adjust equipment, ensuring it remains in optimal working condition. The successful candidate will lead major work projects, specify necessary materials, and train other maintenance personnel. This role also involves contributing to safety efforts and planning continuous improvement and safety-related projects.
Key Responsibilities of an Electro-Mechanical Technician
- Install, design modifications to, and repair electrical equipment such as PLC-controlled equipment, CNC-controlled equipment, relay-controlled equipment, transformers, switches, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, conduit systems or other electrical equipment.
- Work from blueprints and wiring diagrams to locate and diagnose trouble in electrical equipment using electrician's hand tools and measuring/testing equipment.
- Install, design modifications to, and repair mechanical equipment such as hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, and compressed air systems.
- Troubleshoot equipment to diagnose problems; dismantle equipment for repairs using hand tools; replace broken or defective parts.
- Read blueprints of machinery and equipment to determine the location of machinery parts for proper adjustment.
- Keep buildings and structures in repair; make repair parts using machine tools like lathes and milling machines.
- Install machinery and equipment including rigging, moving, placement, leveling prior to operation hookup.
- Build jigs and fixtures as required; install and repair piping systems such as water, steam, and compressed air using plumbers' tools.
Electro-Mechanical Technician Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED; four (4) years or more of formal trades training (e.g., welding, machining, HVAC).
- Ability to read/interpret documents like safety rules and maintenance instructions; write routine reports/correspondence.
- Mathematical skills: add/subtract/multiply/divide in all units of measure; compute rates.
- Reasoning ability: apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written/oral/diagram form.
- Basic computer skills; ability to operate control panels/keyboards.
- Certificates/Licenses: Forklift license, Aerial Lift Certification, Valid PA Driver’s License.
- Other skills: Complicated blueprint/drawing reading; use/understanding of measuring devices/precision instruments.
