Job summary

General Atomics in San Diego, CA, is seeking a Technician experienced in facility equipment operations and maintenance to support the DIII-D program. The role focuses on operating and maintaining pumps, vacuum systems, and relevant instrumentation within the national fusion facility.

Some duties may include swing shifts (approximately 10am-7pm) and occasional after-hours work. Candidates should have an associate degree or equivalent with 3+ years in an operational plant setting and strong safety

Qualifications

Typically requires an associate's degree or equivalent with three or more years of experience.
Experience in an operational plant environment is required.
Ability to walk, stand, bend, sit, stoop, climb, grasp, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

Coordinate with engineers, technicians, and physicists to operate and maintain equipment such as pumps, compressors, vacuum pumps and controllers.
Develop solutions for installing new equipment and improving the facility.
Respond to alarm conditions and support troubleshooting.
Tear-down and rebuild equipment, and perform preventive maintenance.
Ensure safety and environmental programs are adhered to.
Monitor and log equipment operation.
Train other personnel.
