Zalkin Americas LLC, part of ProMach, seeks an Electro-Mechanical Engineer with Mechatronics expertise to design capping machines and components in Statham, GA. You’ll own CAD design from concept through DFMA-aligned production, collaborating with customers and the service team, while advancing smart automation solutions.

You will leverage SolidWorks and AutoCAD, develop layouts, modify designs for performance, and support installation and commissioning.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years experience in machine design.
  • Designing for manufacturability.
  • Packaging experience preferred.
  • 2+ years experience in Mechatronics with Siemens or AB PLC a plus.
  • 4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field.
  • Must be fluent in use of SolidWorks and AutoCAD (2D).
  • SolidWorks certification (CSWE / CSWP) is preferred.
  • Sheetmetal experience and certification is desired but not necessary.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, knowledge of mechanical systems, experience with control systems, software development, and an understanding of electronics and automation are essential.
  • A general knowledge of product handling, machine capabilities and assembly principles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to travel 10% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Be an expert in utilizing Solidworks as primary CAD platform.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD for 2D electrical schematics and line layout creation / modification.
  • Apply knowledge of engineering principles, designs new products and systems that meet company standards and customer requirements.
  • Modify existing designs in equipment to meet performance specifications and customer requirements.
  • Research and analyze data to determine feasibility of design or application.
  • Meet company quality standards, objectives and deadlines.
  • Perform design reviews with customers and communicate with vendors as needed.
  • Interface with Manufacturing to ensure DFMA compliant designs.
  • Interfacing with Production to conduct machinery testing.
  • Develop automation solutions using mechanical, computer, and electrical technology.
  • Implement intelligent robotics and instrumentation to develop solutions.
  • Act as a technical resource for customers and Service Technicians.
  • During machine installation and start-up, assist at customer plant(s).

Zalkin Americas is seeking a talented Electro-Mechanical Engineer with Mechatronics knowledge to be responsible for designing capping machines, capping machine accessories and machine components for bottle capping machinery. The Engineer is responsible for all aspects of the design process, including analyzing application requirements, configuring systems, designing parts and assemblies, creating line layouts, maintaining documentation and communication with coworkers and customers. In addition using the Mechatronics skillset this position will help design and optimize smart machines and automated systems. This position reports directly to the Technical Director and is located in Statham, GA area.

In this role, you will...
  • Be an expert in utilizing Solidworks as primary computer-aided design (CAD) platform.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD for 2D electrical schematics and line layout creation / modification.
  • Apply knowledge of engineering principles, designs new products and systems that meet company standards and customer requirements.
  • Modify existing designs in equipment to meet performance specifications and customer requirements.
  • Research and analyze data, such as customer requirements, design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine the feasibility of the design or application.
  • Meet company quality standards, objectives and deadlines to successfully fulfil requirements.
  • Perform design reviews with customers and communicate with vendors as needed.
  • Prioritize projects based on the scope of established operations schedule deadlines.
  • Interface with Manufacturing to ensure machinery designs meet Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) and may include revising of mechanical design specifications/drawings.
  • Interfacing with the Production Department to conduct machinery mechanical and electrical testing.
  • Develop automation solutions using mechanical, computer, and electrical technology.
  • Implement intelligent robotics and instrumentation using mechanical, computer and electronic technology to develop solutions to problems.
  • Act as a technical resource for customers and Service Department‘s Service Technicians to address and resolve inquires and problems.
  • Especially, during machine installation and start-up in customer plant(s).
