Job summary

Bartelt Packaging LLC, a ProMach Company, seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer II to design packaging equipment and electro-mechanical systems. You will interact with technical specialists to ensure designs meet customer needs and regulatory guidelines, while producing drawings, BOMs, and documentation.

The role involves design for manufacturability, collaboration with suppliers and customers, and support across manufacturing, sales and service teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years of machine design experience.
• Fluent in Inventor, SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Packaging experience preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Create BOMs and contribute to mechanical design of new products.
• Create and dimension engineering/fabrication drawings for components.
• Prepare installation/training/operator manuals drawings as needed.
• Produce final assembly drawings and maintain drawing databases.
• Support purchasing/production and coordinate prototypes with vendors.
• Design and document experiments for R&D; conduct root-cause analysis.
• Provide technical assistance to manufacturing, sales and service.

Bartelt Packaging, a ProMach Company is looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer II to join its team.

The Mechanical Engineer plans and designs packaging equipment, mechanical components, electro‑mechanical, and pneumatic systems.

The Mechanical Engineer II interacts with other technical specialists and engineers to assure that the equipment meets the customer’s needs and federal, state, and local regulatory guidelines as required or directed by management.

Mechanical Engineer II has direct contact with customers, suppliers and regulatory agencies as deemed necessary to perform the job.

• Creates Bill of Materials (BOM)
• Contributes to the mechanical design/development of new products
• Creates and dimension engineering/fabrication drawings for sheet metal and machined metal components
• Creates drawings for installation / training / operator manuals as needed
• Creates product final assembly drawings
• Maintains drawing database to ensure current drawings/documentation is available for Production department
• Will process Engineering Change Orders
• Reads and interprets technical drawings and schematics
• Provides Engineering support for the Purchasing/Production department, may coordinate fabrication of prototypes with outside vendors
• Designs, conducts, and documents experiments for Research and Development
• Researches and evaluates mechanical equipment, processes and systems applying knowledge of engineering principles
• Specifies components and directly modifies designs to ensure conformance with standards and performance specifications
• Conducts root cause analysis
• Recommends and implements changes as directed
• Works with a minimum of supervision and manages complex level design tasks
• Reviews technical proposals and quotations
• Provides technical assistance and support to manufacturing, sales, and service as directed
• Interacts with other technical specialists and engineers to assure that the equipment meets the customer’s needs and federal, state, and local regulatory guidelines

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 5+ years of experience in machine design
• Designing for manufacturability
• Packaging experience preferred
• Must be fluent in use of Inventor (or SolidWorks) and AutoCAD
• A general knowledge of product handling, machine capabilities and assembly principles
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
