Job summary

TransMaster Trailers is seeking an Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer to expand our engineering team. The role emphasizes electrical/hydraulic/pneumatic circuit designs and 3D/2D development using SolidWorks to create trailer components and fabrication drawings.

You will collaborate with project engineers to develop lead on projects as needed, generate parts lists, and support sales estimating with accurate designs while ensuring safety and quality across trailer systems.

Qualifications

• 2- or 4-year engineering/technical degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or similar.
• SolidWorks proficiency with 3D design and 2D prints or fabrication drawings.
• Experience with electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic design.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist project engineers and managers with trailer projects and lead on projects as expertise evolves.
• Perform basic mechanical design work and progress to advanced designs as needed.
• Under senior guidance, utilize FE A and engineering calculations in the design process.
• Utilize SolidWorks for 3D design of steel trailer structures and generate 2D assembly/fabrication prints.
• Collaborate on development of purchased part lists and material calculations.
• Assist in sales estimating/quoting efforts as needed.
• Participate in engineering design reviews and coordinate with manufacturing for feedback.

Our Engineering team is expanding, creating a new opportunity for an Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer. The significant part of this role includes electrical/hydraulic/pneumatic circuit designs.

• Hydraulic circuit designs include control valves, relief valves, check valves, poppet valves, cylinders, pumps, filters, accumulators, and hydraulic tanks.
• Pneumatic circuit designs include valves and components to operate air suspensions and air brakes.
• Additional work will involve wireless remote system specifications and designs.
• Current and future possibilities with CAN bus logic control systems.

Design Engineer other mechanical primary duties:

• Assist the project engineers and managers with their trailer projects. As expertise evolves, you may be assigned the lead on projects.
• You will perform basic mechanical design-work, and progress to more advanced designs as your expertise warrants.
• Under the guidance of senior engineers, potentially utilize finite element analysis (FEA) and other engineering calculations in the design process.

General Engineering Duties:

• The utilization of Solidworks, for 3D design work of steel trailer structures.
• Generate 2D assembly, fabrication, laser (and corresponding .dxf files), brake, saw, machining, and other manufacturing prints from 3D designs.
• Collaborate on the development of the purchased part lists for trailer designs
• Calculate required steel and material lists.
• Prepare assembly checklists.
• Participate with the creation of engineering instructions for trailer repairs, as required.
• Utilize your engineering experience, to assist in sales estimating/quoting efforts as needed.
• Participate in engineering design reviews.
• Serve as a liaison with manufacturing, to streamline the feedback on drawings and designs. Make recommendations or corrections as necessary.

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Required:

• 2 or 4-year engineering/technical degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or similar.
• Microsoft Office products expertise needed, specifically with Word, Excel, and Outlook.
