Job summary

Serac in Carol Stream, IL is seeking an experienced Electromechanical Assembler II to join the Electrical Assembly team. You will build and wire industrial control panels, cabinets, and machine subassemblies from schematics and BOMs, supporting engineers during test and start-up on-site.

This hands-on role requires 3-5 years of panel-building experience, proficiency with PLCs/VFDs, and the ability to read electrical prints.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Electromechanical Technology or related field is a plus.
• 3-5 years hands-on experience building electrical control panels and machine wiring in an industrial/OEM environment.
• Proficient reading electrical schematics, BOMs, and mechanical drawings.
• Experience with PLCs, drives, relays, and wiring practices.
• Familiarity with UL 508A panel build is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build and wire industrial electrical control panels, enclosures, and machine subassemblies from schematics, prints, and BOMs.
• Route, cut, strip, crimp, terminate, and label wire and cable; perform point-to-point wiring.
• Mount PLCs, drives, relays, contactors, breakers, terminal blocks, and power supplies.
• Perform mechanical fabrication such as drilling, tapping, conduit bending, and enclosure prep.
• Support engineers during machine wiring, troubleshooting, and start-up.
• Follow build instructions and QC documentation; work to UL/NEC standards.

Serac builds high-speed liquid filling and capping machines used by global brands across food, dairy, personal care, and chemical industries. We're hiring an experienced Electromechanical Assembler II to join our Electrical Assembly team in Carol Stream, IL - building and wiring the industrial control panels and machine assemblies that power our equipment.

About the Role

You will work from electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and Bills of Materials to build control panels, cabinets, and machine subassemblies - then support our engineers through test, troubleshoot, and start-up. This is hands-on, in-house build work for a skilled wireman or panel builder who wants stability, real benefits, and a shop floor that respects the craft.

Location: Carol Stream, IL (on-site)

Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Pay: $28.41 - $32.60/hr (DOE)

Reports to: Electrical Assembly Supervisor

What You'll Do

• Build and wire industrial electrical control panels, enclosures, and machine subassemblies from schematics, electrical prints, and BOMs

• Route, cut, strip, crimp, terminate, and label wire and cable - point-to-point wiring, DIN rail, wire duct

• Mount components including PLCs, drives, relays, contactors, breakers, terminal blocks, and power supplies

• Perform mechanical fabrication: drilling, tapping, conduit bending, enclosure prep, panel layout

• Support electrical engineers and test technicians during machine wiring, troubleshooting, point-to-point checks, and start-up

• Follow build instructions, complete QC documentation, and work to UL/NEC standards

• Maintain a clean, organized work area using 5S practices

What You Bring

• 3-5 years of hands-on experience building electrical control panels and machine wiring in an industrial, OEM, or machine-builder environment

• Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, pneumatic/hydraulic prints, mechanical drawings, and Bills of Materials

• Solid working knowledge of control components: breakers, relays, contactors, switches, timers, terminal blocks, PLCs, VFDs

• Skilled with hand tools, power tools, crimpers, torque tools, multimeters, and pneumatic equipment

• Experience operating forklifts, overhead cranes, and gantry systems

• Comfortable with conduit bending, drilling, tapping, and basic fabrication

• High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Electromechanical Technology, Industrial Electrical, or related field is a plus

• UL 508A panel build experience strongly preferred

Physical Requirements

Work is performed on-site at our Carol Stream facility. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, bend, kneel, stand, walk, and reach above head and below knees throughout a shift.
