We have an exciting opportunity for an Electro-Mech Technician I to join the team with our Operations & Test Division.

This is a JETS II CBA position with Amentum.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist Electro/Mech Technician II and III as directed in the development, design, assembly, installation, testing, calibration, operation, evaluation, modification, and repair of devices used in the conversion of electrical signals to mechanical, hydraulic or pneumatic outputs on the sensors which convert mechanical, thermal and pressure measurements to electrical signals.
  • Maintain inventory of repair supplies.
  • Assist in the maintenance and operation of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and other types of mechanical equipment in assigned laboratories or work areas.
  • Perform tasks as assigned in troubleshooting, understanding, researching, documenting, acquiring parts, repairing, and calibration of pneumatic, hydraulic, pressure, thermal, and/or other electro-mechanical devices and systems.
  • Adhere to written or standardized operating procedures, policies, and protocols for the use of lab equipment and to conduct all other operations, maintenance, calibration, and safety-related activities as defined for specific work area.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of equipment and systems as required.
  • Perform periodic readings and monitoring of various facility systems from a variety of sources; gauges, sensors, handheld devices, telemetry data to distributive control systems, etc. and record data in written and/or electronic format in hand-held portable and/or desktop computer systems.
  • Operate standard equipment and/or instruments including hand-held power tools, meters, and oscilloscopes.
  • Work in a team environment.
  • Receive technical advice from higher technicians, lead technician supervisor, or engineers; work is reviewed for technical adequacy (or conformity with instructions).
  • Assemble, operate, and disassemble test equipment and properly dispose of components as defined by procedures.
  • Perform assigned tasks in a safe manner and maintain a clean working environment by complying with all safety procedures and company policies.
  • Perform related duties as required.
Requisition Qualifications:
Required Skills:
  • Able to read and interpret basic technical drawings and schematics.
  • Basic knowledge of the process of assembling and installing mechanical and electrical components.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving capability.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Able to operate and handle basic hand-held and/or power tools.
  • Must be a non-smoker to meet Class 10 Cleanroom requirements (Science Department only).
  • Able to comprehend basic technical terminology and communicate effectively with other employees and team members.
  • Able to visualize and solve practical problems.
Preferences:
  • Knowledge of cryogenics and high-pressure systems.
  • Work experience with metals, composites, and materials such as stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, copper, and Teflon.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
  • Familiar with cleanroom protocols and contamination control.
  • Experience with machine tools (e.g., lathe, mill, bandsaw, etc.).
  • Knowledge and/or familiarity with Ultra-Pure Water (UPW) and reverse osmosis systems.
  • Two-year technical degree.

Essential Functions
Work Environment

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Equipment and Machines

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

Attendance

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
