Stellantis in Auburn Hills seeks a Powertrain Controls Engineer to join a team focused on developing advanced electrified powertrain systems. This role involves optimizing control strategies and ensuring that developed models meet functional requirements. Candidates need a strong background in mechanical engineering, with over 10 years of experience in the automotive sector.
The ideal candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams, utilizing tools such as MATLAB/Simulink while contributing to decision-making around control strategies. A bachelor’s degree in engineering is essential, with further education preferred.
The Powertrain Controls Engineer will work within a team of Powertrain controls, calibrations and integration engineers to develop electrified powertrain systems for current and next‑generation electrified powertrains for Stellantis NV vehicles. The overall goal of the team is to develop a complete electrified powertrain that meets the vehicle functional requirements for fuel economy, emissions, drivability, and diagnostics.
The ideal candidate is a strong team player willing to work in a fast‑paced environment and will be involved in developing control strategies related to the strategic optimization of engine speed, gear, powertrain state, engine torque optimization, tactical torque controls for drivability management, brake regeneration controls, and hybrid shift execution strategies. The candidate should have a strong background in modeling mechanical transmission systems and be familiar with using lever‑analogy principles to determine dynamic torque and speed relations used extensively across hybrid torque controls.
The Powertrain Controls Engineer Senior will work closely with a cross‑functional team, utilizing various tools (vehicle, HIL, dyno, virtual, rapid prototyping) through the V‑model development process to ensure quality and robustness of the production algorithms.
