This position reports to:

District Sales Manager

As an intern, you will have the opportunity to gain practical experience through various projects. Each day, you will acquire knowledge by performing tasks as directed. You will also showcase your skills by supporting ABB's operations and enhancing personal education/employment opportunities.

The ABB Electrification team in Houston is looking for the next brightest star to help continue their path of unprecedented growth and success through electrifying the industrial, OEM and construction markets in the greater Houston, Louisiana & gulf coast area. The work model for the role is onsite in Houston, TX.


You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Study and analyze market trends, prospect large capital project opportunities, coordinate project bid strategy discussions.
  • Support outside sales account managers with preparation of equipment project proposals, perform technical and commercial proposal reviews, evaluate project price and profitability.
  • Assist sales with customer bid negotiations to help ABB secure project wins and optimize profitability.
  • Operate within Salesforce.com to help the sales team accurately track opportunity pipelines and assist finance and operational leaders with project forecasting.
  • Use product configurator software to develop effective technical proposals and equipment layout drawings per customer plans and specifications.
  • Collaborate across business lines to help leverage ABB's entire product portfolio.
  • Provide technical and logistical support to ABB customers and channel partners.

  • Seeking feedback and guidance from manager and team members to improve performance and skills.

Qualifications for the role:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or industrial engineering in the United States.
  • Intern must have reliable transportation to and from the worksite.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorshipnow and in the future.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills to analyze complex situations and develop strategic solutions.
  • Effectively organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Exhibit the capability to manage several tasks at once while maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Collaborate with team members to convey ideas, share information, and provide updates on project progress.

The hourly rate is determined by things such as the successful applicant's qualifications, graduation year and experience. This position is expected to pay between $20 - $34 per hour.
