Electrification Engineering Manager

Location: Canton, MI

Job Type: Direct Hire | Full-Time | Salary Exempt

Salary: $111,000-120,000 annually, based on skills and experience

Travel: 25-50% Nationwide

The Adecco Permanent Recruitment Team is recruiting on behalf of a leading engineering and industrial services organization for an Electrification Engineering Manager based in Canton, MI. This position will serve as the technical leader for industrial electrical and power distribution projects, overseeing system designs, infrastructure assessments, site surveys, installations, modifications, and relocations. The ideal candidate will bring extensive industrial electrical engineering experience, strong project leadership skills, and the ability to work hands-on with customers, engineers, electricians, and field teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical lead for the Industrial Electrification Engineering team.

• Lead and direct Senior Electrical Engineers and Electrical Superintendents.

• Conduct and oversee site surveys and industrial power distribution assessments.

• Design and approve industrial power distribution systems and installation plans.

• Evaluate existing electrical infrastructure for capacity, load, and system requirements.

• Develop electrical one-line drawings, schematics, and system documentation.

• Optimize designs based on material availability, lead times, installation requirements, downtime, and ease of implementation.

• Research and ensure compliance with applicable electrical and building codes, industry standards, OSHA requirements, and customer-specific requirements.

• Support project costing, quoting, scheduling, and planning activities.

• Partner with Operations and Program Management to develop project timelines and resource plans.

• Develop project-level material lists and support purchasing activities.

• Source electrical system components and evaluate alternate components based on project requirements.

• Direct internal electricians and subcontractors during project execution.

• Manage and provide technical direction to engineering and field personnel.

• Support field teams with troubleshooting and resolution of electrical system issues, both remotely and onsite.

• Review and approve installation of electrical equipment and systems, including:

• Unistrut frames and hangers

• Cable tray

• Conduit

• Electrical panels

• Disconnects

• Junction boxes

• Motors

• Collaborate with controls and low-voltage specialists to ensure proper system integration.

• Conduct arc flash studies and generate appropriate labeling following project completion.

• Verify proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures prior to electrical work.

• Promote a safe, organized, and professional work environment.

• Perform other project and jobsite responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related field , or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• 15+ years of combined experience in electrical engineering, industrial electrical installation, maintenance, or a related field.

• Proven, field-based experience as an Electrical Engineer within an industrial environment.

• Strong knowledge of industrial electrical power distribution systems.

• Advanced ability to read, interpret, and develop electrical drawings, schematics, manuals, and one-line diagrams.

• Advanced proficiency with Autodesk Electrical Suite or comparable electrical design software.

• Strong practical electrical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

• Proven project management and supervisory experience.

• Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary engineering, operations, and field teams.

• Strong problem-solving, critical-thinking, communication, and leadership skills.

• Working knowledge of applicable electrical codes and accepted industry practices.

• Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.

• Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout the United States.

• Reliable personal vehicle suitable for interstate travel.

• Willingness to work nights, weekends, variable schedules, and additional hours as project requirements dictate.

• Experience operating aerial lifts and other powered equipment is preferred.

Travel & Field Requirements

This is a high-travel engineering leadership position . Travel will typically range from 25-50% , with the expectation that members of the travel team may be onsite in other states for 3-4 weeks at a time and occasionally for several months , depending on project requirements.

The company provides a comprehensive travel package:

• Flights, hotels, and rental vehicles are arranged and paid for by the company in advance.

• Employees who drive their personal vehicle to a project location may expense mileage at $0.76 per mile .

• $70/day per diem is provided and reimbursed every two weeks through the expense process.

• Travel assignments may include occasional breaks around holidays, but this position is part of a continuous travel team.
