Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree/technical diploma preferred.
  • Experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical theory, NEC, and interpreting drawings and specs.
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety practices and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Possession or ability to obtain NCCER Craft Instructor certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality classroom, laboratory, and hands-on instruction in Electrician Technology.
  • Deliver NCCER-aligned instruction at the Bossier campus.
  • Prepare students to safely install, maintain, test, and troubleshoot electrical systems.

Job description

This posting is for a full-time, 12-month, unclassified, in-person faculty position based on-site at our Bossier Campus.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree, technical diploma, completed apprenticeship, or industry certification in electrical technology or a related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated professional experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting residential, commercial, and/or industrial electrical systems required.
  • Working knowledge of electrical theory and applications, including circuits, conductors, wiring methods, boxes, raceways, conduit bending, grounding and bonding, lighting, motors, overcurrent protection, and control systems.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code and the ability to interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements, workplace safety practices, hazard recognition, electrical testing, lockout/tagout procedures, arc-flash hazards, and safe jobsite practices required.
  • Experience with NCCER Core and NCCER Electrical Levels 1 and 2 curricula preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain NCCER Craft Instructor certification and other credentials required by the College or credentialing organization.
  • Experience teaching, training, coaching, supervising, or mentoring individuals or groups preferred.
  • Ability to clearly teach technical concepts, demonstrate hands‑on skills, assess student performance, and provide effective coaching and feedback.
  • Strong commitment to safety, code‑compliant work, quality workmanship, professionalism, and student success.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, leadership, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to use varied instructional methods and basic instructional technology to support student learning and engagement.

  • Flexibility, dependability, and willingness to teach courses scheduled during the day, evening, weekend, or at partner locations, as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, and handle or feel objects and controls.
  • Must be sufficiently mobile to work in a classroom and/or outdoor environment with vehicles/equipment and students daily.
  • Ability to occasionally lift or carry up to 75 pounds.

Bossier Parish Community College is seeking a full-time Electrician Technology Instructor to provide high-quality classroom, laboratory, and hands‑on instruction aligned with NCCER Electrical Levels 1 and 2. The instructor will prepare students for successful entry into the electrical workforce by developing the technical knowledge, practical skills, safety practices, and professional habits required to install, maintain, and troubleshoot residential, commercial, and light industrial electrical systems.

Instruction will include electrical safety, trade mathematics, electrical theory, National Electrical Code requirements, electrical drawings, conductors, wiring devices, boxes, raceways, conduit bending, conductor installation and termination, grounding and bonding, lighting, motors, circuit protection, and control systems. The ideal candidate will possess substantial electrical industry experience, strong technical and instructional abilities, a commitment to workplace safety, and a demonstrated interest in preparing students for long‑term success in a high‑demmand skilled trade.

  • Provide high-quality classroom, laboratory, and hands‑on instruction in Electrician Technology coursework at the Bossier campus.
  • Deliver instruction aligned with NCCER Core and NCCER Electrical Levels 1 and 2, as assigned.
  • Prepare students to safely install, maintain, test, and troubleshoot residential, commercial, and light industrial electrical systems.
  • Teach electrical principles and applications, including trade mathematics, electrical theory, National Electrical Code requirements, electrical drawings, circuits, conductors, wiring devices, boxes, raceways, conduit bending, grounding and bonding, lighting, motors, circuit protection, and control systems.
  • Provide instruction in the proper selection, use, care, and storage of electrical tools, meters, testing equipment, materials, and personal protective equipment.
  • Incorporate applicable safety requirements, electrical codes, manufacturer specifications, and industry standards throughout instruction.
  • Maintain safety as the highest priority and consistently model proper PPE use, hazard recognition, lockout/tagout procedures, electrical testing practices, and professional jobsite conduct.
  • Develop lesson plans, laboratory activities, demonstrations, assessments, and other instructional materials that support course and credential requirements.
  • Assess student learning through written examinations, practical demonstrations, skills checklists, and performance-based evaluations, and provide timely feedback.
  • Promote a positive, professional, and student-centered learning environment that supports persistence, completion, credential attainment, and workforce readiness.
  • Incorporate employability skills, including communication, teamwork, problem-solving, customer service, professionalism, and workplace accountability.
  • Maintain instructional tools, equipment, materials, laboratories, and training areas in a safe, clean, organized, and functional condition.
  • Maintain accurate records related to attendance, grades, student progress, skills attainment, credential completion, and required program data.
  • Participate in curriculum review, program assessment, professional development, required trainings, College meetings, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Work collaboratively with College leadership, faculty, staff, student support personnel, and employer partners to support student success and ensure the program remains responsive to workforce needs.
  • Support student recruitment, retention, employer engagement, work‑based learning, career placement, and other workforce development activities related to electrical programming.
  • Teach day, evening, weekend, accelerated, or customized courses at College or partner locations as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director, Dean, or other College leadership.
