Job Summary

Oversees all assignments, duties and personnel assigned to the electrical and kitchen craftsat Grand Canyon South Rim.

The Details:
Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round
Pay: $27.45 per hour
Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and evaluate the work performed by electrical staff, ensuring quality control, timeliness and cost effectiveness.
  • Supervise the status of all work orders as it pertains to the electrical trade.
  • Ability to work with voltages ranging from 0-480 volts (1200k volts where applicable), which includes single phase and three phase systems.
  • Maintain consistent work schedules for assigned electrical staff.
  • Provide hands on training for all staff assigned as it pertains to the electrical industry.
  • Ensure that all parts and materials are inventoried, specified, requisitioned and used with a minimum of waste by assigned craft personnel.
  • Ensure that assigned craft personnel maintain a clean and safe work environment on a daily basis.
  • Evaluate condition of equipment and make recommendations for repair or replacement. Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, electrical components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of the malfunction and correct the problem. Advise management regarding safety and cost effectiveness of equipment operation.
  • Supervise and perform preventive scheduled maintenance on electrical equipment as directed.
  • Perform all work with guest service in mind, keeping equipment and operational down time to a minimum.
  • Provide accurate estimates of electrical repairs on a time and material basis for any given project as requested.
  • Work from ladders, scaffolds, vertical boom lift, and roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical and gas fired equipment.
  • Assist on outside maintenance projects when requested and/or scheduled.
  • Maintain good communication with Maintenance Manager and assistant Maintenance Manager on all projects/work orders within craft.
  • Be available for after-hours call outs related to the electrical and kitchen trades. Be available to assist the manager on duty on related trade needs.
  • Understand and enforce current National Electrical Codes (NEC) as it applies to the industry. Ensure NEC codes are understood and met by electrical staff under supervision.
  • Ensure that assigned craft personnel adhere to all prescribed Company, National Park Service and statutory/regulatory policies and procedures regarding worker safety, risk management, sustainability policies, HAZMAT, HAZCOM, confined space, lockout/tagout and vehicle operation.
  • Be available for after hours on-call duties as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Journeyman electrician certification is preferred or minimum of seven years’ experience in the electrical trade.
  • Ability to perform all tasks of their respective trade. Refer to Level I job description for trade specific tasks/qualifications.
  • Ability to train subordinates in the craft based upon the subordinate’s level of expertise and learning ability.
  • Knowledge of current International Building Codes pertinent to trade.
  • Good verbal communication skills with ability to give directions clearly.
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to plan and complete work in a timely manner.
  • Possess or obtain a valid Arizona Driver’s License within 90 days of start date and comply with the Xanterra South Rim Company Vehicle Policy.
  • Possess physical ability to perform tasks.
