Job summary

VW International is seeking an Electrician in South Dakota to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, and repairs on electrical systems across our facilities and Central Utilities Plant.

The role requires a Journeyman Electrician license, mechanical and electrical aptitude, and the ability to read drawings, schematics, and submittals. You will handle lighting, switchgear, and distribution systems, while ensuring compliance with NFPA 70E and national codes.

Qualifications

• Be able to read and understand architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawings.
• Be able to read and understand electrical schematics.
• Be able to read and understand manufacture’s submittals and literature.
• Be able to specify, locate and order material and replacement parts.
• Be able to understand and implement national electrical codes, life safety codes and NFPA 70E Arc Flash Protection.
• Must have a current Journeyman Electrician license.
• Must have a current driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots, repairs, installs, and performs Preventative Maintenance (PM) on electrical systems within facilities and Central Utilities Plant, requiring a Journeyman license.
• Ensure lighting is functional through regular maintenance checks and replacements.
• Maintain and repair electrical switchgear, distribution equipment, and other electrical devices per specifications.
• Perform maintenance on large systems (pneumatic tubes, nurse call, emergency power, lighting controls, mass notification, fire alarm).
• Create and maintain single-line drawings and distribution maps for electrical systems.
• Maintain records of maintenance activities and perform tests as required.
• Install wiring, switches, receptacles and other electrical devices per national codes.
• Complete PM paperwork professionally and timely.
