Job summary

U.S. Facilities, Inc. seeks a Licensed Electrician with MV/HV experience for large life sciences/pharmaceutical facilities that operate 24x7. The role covers maintenance of 480V to 35kV systems, switchgear, transformers, and feeders in office, lab, and industrial areas.

You will troubleshoot motors, VFDs, MCCs, control circuits, and power quality issues while adhering to NFPA 70E safety standards and site procedures.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Current Journeyman or Master Electrician license in PA.
  • 5+ years as industrial/commercial electrician with MV/HV experience.
  • Formal training in electrical safety (NFPA 70E) and qualified person for MV/HV.
  • Strong background in commercial electrical service (lighting, panels, circuits).
  • Ability to read electrical one-line diagrams and schematics.
  • Basic computer skills (email, CMMS).
  • US work entrance clearance and ability to work shifts/overtime.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain generators (tier 1–4).
  • Perform yearly load bank testing and routine test runs.
  • Paralleling switchgear familiarity and MV/HV load transfer.
  • MV/HV switching, racking, tagging, and isolation.
  • Maintenance of 480V and MV/HV systems, switchgear, transformers.
  • Install/repair 110–277V circuits and devices in office/lab spaces.
  • Install/modify raceways and pull/terminate conductors for equipment.
  • Read and update diagrams and equipment documentation.

Job description

U.S. Facilities, Inc., a consolidated facility management service, is seeking a Licensed Electrician with medium / high voltage (MV/HV) experience primarily in large life sciences pharmaceutical / laboratory industrial settings which operate 24 x 7, 365 days per year.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain tier 1 to tier 4, emergency generators.
  • Perform routine test runs, Perform yearly load bank testing.
  • Be familiar with paralleling switchgear.
  • Ability to transfer electrical load from utility to site emergency generator stand by load.
  • Familiar with Scada system associated with electrical systems.
  • Familiar with environmental and regulatory record keeping and responsibilities.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on 480V and MV/HV (approx. 4.16kV–35kV) distribution systems, switchgear, transformers, breakers, and feeders.
  • Perform MV/HV switching, racking, tagging, and isolation in accordance with site procedures, LOTO, and arc-flash standards.
  • Support planned and unplanned MV/HV outages, including coordination with the utility and site operations.
  • Inspect and maintain MV/HV cables, terminations, and splices; perform and document insulation resistance, hi-pot, and related tests.
  • Maintenance & repair of 480V and MV/HV distribution systems, switchgear, transformers, and associated equipment.
  • Perform installation, troubleshooting, and repair of 110V, 220V, and 277V circuits and devices (receptacles, lighting, small equipment feeds, and controls) in office, lab, and industrial areas. I.e. Branch circuits, receptacles, switches, and lighting circuits, Lighting fixtures (interior/exterior), ballasts/drivers, occupancy sensors, and controls, Panelboards, breakers, disconnects, motor starters, and contactors.
  • Install and modify raceway systems (conduit, cable tray, surface raceway) and pull/terminate conductors for new or relocated equipment.
  • Install and connect motors and other building equipment to power, including verification of proper rotation, overload protection, and grounding.
  • Perform panel labeling, circuit identification, and load checks; assist with minor panelboard and breaker upgrades.
General Technical & Administrative
  • Troubleshoot motors, VFDs, MCCs, control circuits, PLC I/O, and power quality issues.
  • Read and update one-line diagrams, schematics, and equipment documentation.
  • Use CMMS to receive, complete, and document work orders and preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Use test equipment (multimeters, clamp meters, megohm meters, hi-pot testers, etc.) to diagnose faults and verify safe operation.
  • Identify and recommend reliability, safety, and energy‑efficiency improvements.
  • Follow all USF and client safety policies, including NFPA 70E requirements, PPE use, JHAs, and LOTO.
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Current Journeyman or Master Electrician license in Pennsylvania.
  • 5+ years as an industrial/commercial electrician, including hands‑on work with medium and/or high voltage systems.
  • Demonstrated experience working safely on 480V 3‑phase and MV/HV distribution equipment (switchgear, breakers, transformers, feeders).
  • Formal training in electrical safety (e.g., NFPA 70E or equivalent) and ability to qualify as a “qualified person” for MV/HV work.
  • Strong background in commercial electrical service work (lighting, panels, branch circuits, equipment connections).
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical one‑lines, schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Basic computer skills (email, CMMS, electronic documentation).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required site access/clearances.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.; ability to work shifts, overtime, and on‑call as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree or technical certificate in Electrical Technology, Power Systems, or related field.
  • Experience with 15kV–35kV distribution, substations, or campus‑style power systems.
  • Experience testing and maintaining MV/HV breakers, protective relays, grounding systems, and switchgear.
  • Training or certification in MV/HV cable splicing/terminations.
  • Experience using power quality analyzers, infrared thermography, or other condition‑based monitoring tools.
  • Experience in a data center, pharmaceutical, advanced manufacturing, or campus environment.
Physical Requirements
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Climb ladders and stairs; work at heights using aerial or scissor lifts.
  • Frequently bend, kneel, squat, and work in confined or awkward spaces.
  • Walk extensively throughout the facility and site.
  • Perform repetitive hand/wrist motions and distinguish wire and component colors.
Other
  • Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Must be able to work in a fast‑paced, critical‑facility environment and interact professionally with clients and coworkers.
