Job summary

Pasadena Independent School District seeks an experienced Electrician Master Level 4 to maintain, repair, and install electrical systems across district facilities. The role requires expertise with fuse boxes, panels, and building wiring, plus strong troubleshooting skills.

Qualified candidates will have a Texas Journeyman Electrical License, a valid Texas driver’s license, and the ability to obtain a Texas Class A CDL. Expect 240 duty days and a competitive pay grade.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret blueprints and schematics, and extract required electrical work details.
• Understand instructions and prepare basic specifications for simple electrical tasks.
• Willingness to pursue Texas Class A CDL for commercial driving responsibilities.
• Minimum 5 years as a Journeyman Electrician preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, lay out, install and repair fuse boxes, switch panels, wiring and fixtures.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, HVAC, refrigeration and intercoms.
• Remove and replace faulty wiring, switches, fixtures, motors and starters.
• Measure, cut and install electrical conduit using hand and power tools.
• Perform preventive maintenance and test circuits for safety and compliance.
• Review work orders, order materials, and report completion to supervisor.
• Access and use computer systems for email, time entry and work orders.
• Respond to occasional after-hours emergencies and perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Certification / Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.


• Must have a valid Texas driver's license and meet and maintain insurance requirements of PISD.


• Must pass an initial drug test and be part of a random drug testing program.


• Must pass a criminal history check.


• Texas State Journeyman Electrical License required.

Skills / Special Knowledge / Experience

• Must be familiar with basic electrical system: installation operation and maintenance. Ability to read blueprints, schematics, interpret instructions, prepare simple specifications.


• Must be willing to acquire a Texas Class A commercial driver's license.


• Minimum of 5 years as a Journeyman Electrician preferred.

Major Responsibilities and Duties

• Plans, lays out, installs and repairs fuse boxes, switch panels, electric controls, electrical wiring, and electrical fixtures as needed.


• Perform troubleshooting and repair of the electrical system, HVAC equipment, refrigeration, intercom systems and building electrical systems.


• Performs removal and replacement or repair of electrical equipment such as light switches, receptacles, defective wiring, light fixtures, generators, motors and motor starters as needed.


• Measures, cuts bends, threads, assembles and installs electrical conduit using such tools as hack saws, pipe threading equipment and conduit benders.


• Completes preventive maintenance inspections of equipment as assigned.


• Determines general scope of repairs needed: orders and installs materials and parts; tests continuity of circuits to insure electrical compatibility and safety of components, using standard instruments.


• Assist in the installation of new or modified electrical work as directed. Completes work orders and turns in to supervisor upon completion of job.


• Complete work order assignments related or unrelated to electrical work as directed


• Must have working knowledge of computer systems in regards to email, time entry and work orders.


• Must be willing to respond to occasional after hour emergencies.


• Perform other duties as assigned.
