Job description

• Perform daily maintenance tasks and troubleshooting of packaging and production equipment and systems, including : extruder, dryers, high speed packaging including cartoners, baggers, case-packers, palletizers, low pressure boilers, thermal fluid process heaters, material handling systems, water chillers, compressed air systems, and HVAC systems
• Partner with operations and maintenance teams to solve repetitive problems, complete preventative maintenance and predictive maintenance responsibilities in a safe, effective, and compliant manner
• Partner with operations to learn operating systems, while providing training on mechanical components
• Train operations staff on operating systems and operator basic care responsibilities
• Responsible for taking necessary action on all food safety and quality problems reported or observed
• Other duties, as assigned

Education & Experience Required :

• High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution and one or more of the following :
• Two-year Associates Degree or higher in technical field (mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, electro-mechanical, controls and automation, etc.)
• Completed apprenticeship in mechanic, mechanical maintenance, or electro-mechanical, electrical, or related field
• Military training and experience in a relevant Military Occupational Specialty (MOS)
• 2+ years hands-on experience in a mechanic, maintenance, electrical, electro-mechanical, controls and automation role
• 1+ years’ experience as operator in a food manufacturing facility

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills :

• Possession of valid Oregon millwright manufacturing card / license
• Previous maintenance experience in a food manufacturing facility
• Previous experience reading blueprints and schematics
• Previous experience with MIG, TIG, and stick welding
• Previous experience with power transmission components; belt drives, chain drives, bearings, motors & gears
• Previous experience with drill presses, lathes, Bridgeport-type mills
• Experience with operation and maintenance of forklifts, scissor lifts, and articulated lifts

Physical Requirements : Qualified candidates must be able to perform the following physical job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation :

• Must be able to bend, crouch, stoop, sit, and kneel for 4+ hours per shift
• Must be able to balance for 8+ hours per shift
• Must be able to stand, walk, climb stairs for 8+ hours per shift
• Must be able to climb / work off ladder, and reach above shoulders for 4+ hours per shift
