This OCONUS position is located on the white sandy beaches of the Andros Island, a Commonwealth of the Bahamas. Atlantic Undersea Test & Evaluation Center (AUTEC) is Arcata's newest partnership. AUTEC provides research, development, test and evaluation, engineering, analysis, and assessment, and fleet support capabilities for submarines, autonomous underwater systems, and offensive and defensive undersea weapon systems, and stewards existing and emerging technologies in support of undersea warfare for the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport.

Position Summary:

The Maintenance Electrician performs a variety of electrical trade functions involving installing, inspecting, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems within various types of buildings, outdoor lighting systems, food service equipment, and laundry equipment.

  • Responsible for keeping electrical systems safe and operational. Carrying out safety checks, monitoring for faults, installing electrical equipment and fixtures, panels and circuit breakers, wiring electrical systems, and performing necessary repairs.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues accurately. Replace defective components, rewire, and repair control circuits.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance inspections to identify and address issues before they lead to significant problems.
  • Work from blueprints, drawings, layouts or other specifications; locate and diagnose trouble in the electrical system or equipment; perform standard computations related to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment; use a variety of electrician's hand tools and measuring and testing instruments.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety regulations, and company policies.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • At least 5 years of related experience required.
  • Journeyman's license required.
  • Valid passport and driver's license required.
  • Must be able to reside in a remote location with limited medical facilities.
Qualifications:
  • Current Secret Security Clearance.
  • Previous experience with medium voltage electrical systems (4160V transformers), switching, and distribution (overhead and underground) installations, maintenance, and repairs.
