Job summary

The State of Michigan invites applications for an Electrician Licensed E9 position, with the option to apply for Electrician Master Licensed E10. This role covers maintenance of traffic control devices and electrical systems across the Bay Region for MDOT.

Job description

Position

Electrician Licensed E9 – Job Number: 5901-26-BR-2-ELE9-JH. Candidates may also apply for Electrician Master Licensed E10 – Job Number: 5901-25-BR-5-ELE10-JH.

Responsibilities

This position is responsible for maintenance of all electronic traffic control devices and electrical equipment for the Bay Region. The incumbent will perform installation, repair, inspection, and routine or emergency maintenance on traffic signals, freeway lighting, MDOT facilities, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), and related electronic equipment. The role may include inspecting work of contractors to ensure compliance with specifications and electrical code regulated by LARA. The incumbent is required to operate an aerial bucket truck (over 26,000 pounds) and aerial lift equipment for installing and repairing traffic signal equipment, setting poles and pedestals, overhead wires and cables, and lighting at MDOT facilities.

Compensation

Salary range: minimum to maximum for Electrician Licensed E9.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Journeyman electrician license.
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) learner’s permit upon appointment and a CDL Group A with N or X endorsement and no air‑brake restrictions obtained within 12 months of hire.
Additional Qualifications

No specific experience required beyond that required for licensure.
