Qualifications

Job Description

Brief Description:

The Electrician Journeyman is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems per work order, process sheet, sketches and drawings on oil drilling sites, production pads, compressor stations, and commercial sites. The incumbent will convert production drawings to tasks, ensuring materials are available to complete tasks while working with Apprentice crews to complete.

Schedule:

  • 4 weeks ON 2 weeks OFF
  • 60 hours per week (opportunity for more)
  • 36 weeks ON and 17 weeks OFF (22% MORE TIME OFF!)
  • Flexibility for special occasions, family needs, or other accommodations is available

Licensing Information and Requirements:

Essential Job Functions:

  • Reads blueprints, drawings, and wiring diagrams
  • Converts production drawings to tasks and works with crew to complete
  • Pulls and terminates power and instrumentation cables
  • Installs and repairs equipment, wiring, or control devices
  • Performs preventative maintenance on motors, pumps, generators, etc.
  • Performs maintenance on electrical distribution systems
  • Maintains, identifies, and clearly marks all electrical panels as to functions of controls
  • Trains and mentors Apprentice Electricians to ensure quality work and facilitate learning
  • Ensures all work is conducted in accordance with NEC and NFPA requirements as well as local, city, state, and electrical codes, and all Company and Client standards.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • One (1) year electrical experience in the industrial industry
  • Current and valid driver’s license, with a clean driving record required depending on location
  • Current OSHA 10 and Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) certificates or be able to obtain upon hire

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Knowledge and experience with power tools, electrical equipment, and construction equipment
  • Knowledge of electrical codes
  • Knowledge of proper electrical equipment use conducive to conditions and assignments including adherence to Hazardous Materials and Safety Regulations
  • Comprehensive knowledge of electrical systems, equipment, operational and mechanical systems including installation, testing, maintenance, and repair
  • Understanding of how electrical systems operate under normal and emergency conditions
  • Understanding of electrical schematics, diagrams, and blueprints
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Skilled in the repair of electrical equipment, wiring, and other fixtures.
  • Strong mechanical, analytical, and solution-driven skills
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook, etc.)
  • Basic math skills
  • Strong troubleshooting ability
  • Ability to diagnose system malfunctions, locate the cause of breakdowns, and recommend solutions
  • Ability to recognize and respond to dangerous situations or emergencies such as high voltage systems, electrical fires, loose hot wires, broken power lines, etc.
  • Ability to give direction and oversight to helpers and apprentices
