Job description

JOIN OUR TEAM AS AN ELECTRICIAN II - UTILITIES

Electrical work at the skilled level. An employee of this position works as a member of an electrical crew, performing a variety of electrical installations and maintenance work in accordance with applicable electrical codes and standard practices. The employee may work independently on routine maintenance tasks. Supervision is received from an Electrician Ill or Supervisor. This is an industrial maintenance position.

Assists in and/or completes installation, maintenance, or repair of electrical motors, light fixtures, receptacles, and emergency power generating equipment. Assists in the installation, maintenance, and repair of high and low voltage transformers, lightning arresters, supply lines, and utility poles. Repairs and replaces electrical switches, relays, sockets, fuses, circuit breaker panels, cords, and similar items. Installs, maintains, and repairs light machinery, electrical circuits, and switch panels. Repairs defective wiring and parts using hand tools. Replaces electrical light fixture parts such as fluorescent tubes and starters. Assists in or completes location and correction of electrical malfunctions using electrical test instruments; uses wiring diagrams and blueprints to locate and isolate electrical malfunctions. Assists and/or completes installation, maintenance, and repair of wiring, equipment, light fixtures, and control circuits, including jail doors and alarm circuits. Observes safety precautions and consults with supervisor concerning questions with regard to methods, procedures, techniques and materials. Maintains fire extinguishers, Halon system, fire sprinkler systems, fire alarms, and burglary alarms. Performs related wok as required.

  • Knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques based on electrical theory and occupational hazards and safety precautions of the electrical trade.
  • Ability to use standard hand tools in accomplishing minor electrical repairs.
  • Works from blueprints or sketches.
  • Performs simple arithmetic and standardized practices.
  • Ability to learn applicable codes and regulations.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects.
PHYSICAL SKILLS:

Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects. May use a handling device (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or move excessively heavy objects. Ability to differentiate between colors for identifying color-coded wiring. Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication. Ability to bend, stoop, squat, climb and walk frequently.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Five (5) years' of experience as an electrician.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS:

Must possess a valid Florida driver's license.
