Program Description

The Facilities Maintenance and Engineering (FME) supports the NCI at Frederick in their mission to cure cancer and AIDS, managing campus infrastructure, laboratories, and renovation projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform inspections and maintenance on electrical infrastructure in various buildings.
  • Handle preventative maintenance, installation, repair, modification, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical systems.
  • Use infrared cameras and thermographic equipment for inspections.
  • Work on equipment up to 600 VAC.
  • Assist in developing work plans, including safety and operational considerations.
  • Create detailed reports with findings, images, and analysis.
  • Plan and assist with controlled shutdowns for repairs.
  • Follow safety guidelines, including PPE use and SISO protocols.
  • Work beyond normal hours as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (foreign degrees evaluated).
  • Maryland State Journeyman license + 4 years craft experience.
  • Level II Thermographer Certification.
  • Training on NFPA 70B, NFPA 70E, OSHA 10.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work in various physical conditions and environments, and access campus facilities regularly.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master Electrician's License.
  • Experience with industrial electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes and safety practices.

We are committed to non-discrimination. Compensation ranges from $52,700 to $90,625 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Benefits include health, wellness, income protection, paid leave, and retirement.
