Rochester Institute of Technology’s Facilities Management Services is seeking an Electrician II to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade electrical systems across academic and residential buildings on campus. You will respond to work orders, perform preventive maintenance, and guide student employees and junior staff, while adhering to safety standards and the National Electrical Code.
This is an on-site, non-exempt role with opportunities to contribute to campus-wide projects.

This position may require working various shifts, weekends, holidays, and hours outside of a standard work schedule. The successful candidate must be available for on‑call assignments and provide contact information for inclusion in the department's call‑in roster to support urgent situations, including severe weather events and other campus emergencies.
The successful candidate may be required to operate university vehicles and must enroll in the New York State License Event Notification Service (NYS LENS) program upon hire. Candidates are encouraged to review RIT's Vehicle and Driver Safety Procedures for additional information.
FMS supports the RIT community by designing, constructing, operating, and maintaining a high‑quality, cost‑effective campus environment. As part of the FMS Utilities Maintenance team, the Electrician II plays a vital role in maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and upgrading electrical systems in academic and residential buildings across campus, responding to work orders, preventive maintenance needs, and electrical emergencies. This position works independently to resolve complex issues while providing guidance and support to student employees and less experienced staff.
Operations, Administrative, Service, or Technical Support Level 2 - An intermediate level role with working foundational knowledge and skills to perform routine and occasionally non‑routine tasks. Tasks may require interpretation or deviation from standard procedures. May provide assistance to entry level staff.
