Job summary

The City of Salem is seeking an Electrician 1 to support the Public Works Wastewater Treatment Plant, performing preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical, instrumentation, and control systems. You’ll troubleshoot and repair motors, instrumentation, DCS/PLC equipment, and related controls, with opportunities to lead crews and respond to emergencies.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED with related coursework in electrical/electronic/mechanical trades and two years’ experience.
• Oregon General (J) or Manufacturing Plant (PJ) Journeyman license or higher is required.

Responsibilities

• Designs, reviews, and draws, creates work orders and assigns tasks for Electrician 1 duties.
• Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical, instrumentation, and communication equipment at the treatment plant.
• Troubleshoots, calibrates, and repairs motors, gates/valves, analysis equipment, DCS and PLC systems.
• Maintains records, prepares reports, and coordinates with engineers and inspectors.
