Job description

Title: Electrician Helper (ID:1681)
Location: Charleston, SC
Department: Electrical

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Accurately install wire, conduit, panel boards, fixtures, devices, pre‑fab assemblies, boxes, and breakers according to job specifications and NEC.
• Directly work with other electricians and helpers as part of a team.
• Install electrical distribution and automation equipment: switchgear, panels, transformers, PLC control cabinets and VFDs.
• Demonstrate proficiency with circuitry of the trade to include power, control, and motor terminations.
• Bend conduit by hand and with benders.
• Capable of digging trenches, either using hand tools or power equipment.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Ability to read and understand instructions, procedures, labels, and gauges.
• Accurate basic math calculations including addition, subtraction, fractions, decimals, multiplication, division, and use of measurements.
• Effective communication skills (written, verbal, nonverbal).
• Self‑motivation, organization, prioritization, and management.
• Proficient knowledge of OSHA standards and guidelines.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or 1‑3 years of experience or combination of education and experience preferred.

Physical Demands

Regularly required to talk or hear; stand; walk; climb; lift and carry up to 60 lbs; crawl; kneel; push and reach; use hands to fingers, handle, and feel.

Work Environment

Exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibration, extreme conditions at construction job sites; noise level may be loud; work performed in outside weather conditions.
