Job summary

A local school district in East Chicago is seeking an experienced Electrician responsible for installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems. The ideal candidate has a Journeyman level experience and must possess a valid Indiana Driver's License. This role requires availability for 24-hour emergencies and offers a physically demanding working environment with duties related to high and low voltage systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum of four years diversified Journeyman level electrician experience.
• Possession of a Valid Indiana Driver's License.
• Available to respond to emergencies on a 24-hour basis (On-call).
• Able to operate a man lift.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled electrical work in inspection, installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems.
• Work on live circuits up to 600 volts during and after school hours.
• Install and maintain various sized conduit.

Skills

Journeyman level electrician experience

Reading and writing English communication skills

Knowledge of materials, tools, and methods common to the trade

Personality suitable for working on school grounds

Familiarity with single and three-phase electrical power

Ability to withstand heights (up to 100 ft)

Strength and energy for rigorous work

Education

Completion of a recognized electrical apprentice training program
