Job summary

The City of Dallas is seeking an Electrician Assistant to support installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems in city buildings and facilities in compliance with federal, state, and city codes.

You will assist Electricians with installation, testing, and troubleshooting, read blueprints, perform preventive maintenance, and document work while participating in training opportunities to grow skills and expertise.

Qualifications

High school diploma, GED or equivalent work experience.
1 year experience in electrical equipment installation, maintenance, or repair.
Valid driver's license with good driving record.
Must have or be able to obtain State of Texas Electrical Apprentice License within three months of hire.

Responsibilities

Assist electricians in installation, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical systems.
Troubleshoot simple electrical equipment, motors, and controls using schematics.
Install, repair, and maintain control circuits, lighting, and switchgear.
Read blueprints and electrical diagrams to locate equipment.
Document maintenance and repair activities and participate in trainings.
Perform preventive maintenance and safety checks on electrical equipment.
Carry out other trades tasks as needed.
