Job summary

KLN Family Brands in Perham, MN, invites motivated college students to join as an Electrician Apprentice Intern for summer 2027. You will work with our Electrical & Controls Supervisor and maintenance teams to gain hands-on experience. We value teamwork, safety, and a proactive mindset.

Requirements include pursuing an Associate in Electrical Technology or a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, and a 10-12 week commitment on-site at our Perham facility. Starting pay is $17.94 per hour.

Qualifications

• Second-year student pursuing an Associate Degree in Electrical Technology.
• Junior pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Willing to commit 10–12 weeks for the internship in Summer 2027.
• Willing to work on-site at our Perham, MN facility.

Responsibilities

We’re looking for an Electrician Apprentice Intern for the summer of 2027 that is serious about a career in manufacturing. The Opportunity

As an Electrician Apprentice Intern, you’ll work closely with our Electrical & Controls Supervisor and other members of our maintenance, electrical, and controls teams.

Daily Duties And Responsibilities

• Gain hands-on experience with the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and components, including:
• Electrical panels
• Circuit breakers
• Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
• Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
• Low-voltage sensors
• Conduit installation
• Wire pulling
• Electrical terminations
• Develop proficiency in the use of specialized electrical testing and maintenance equipment, including multimeters, power benders, infrared cameras, meggers, cchuggers, and other common power tools
• Shadow experienced plant electricians to gain practical knowledge of electrical systems, maintenance procedures, troubleshooting techniques, and safe work practices

What You’ll Need to Be Successful at KLN Family Brands/Tuffy’s Pet Foods

• At least a second-year student pursuing an Associate Degree in Electrical Technology or a Junior pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
• The ability to dedicate 10-12 weeks to the internship program for the summer of 2027
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn
• The ability to work in a team atmosphere and be a great co-worker
• The ability to work on-site at our Perham, MN facility for the summer

Compensation

The starting hourly rate of pay is $17.94 and will be a percentage of industry standards based on typical full-time starting salaries, and will depend on your year in school and timeline to graduation.
