Electrician ApprenticeNATURE OF WORK:
Assists in the operation, inspection, and maintenance of electrical systems, fire alarms systems, emergency power, HVAC and other specialized equipment to ensure a safe and functional working environment for district employees and guests. This position is designed for individuals seeking hands-on-experience in electrical maintenance while working under the guidance of a senior electrician.
SUPERVISION:
Works under the supervision of the senior electrician and the Engineering Manager. Performs task independently as assigned and refers unusual cases to the supervisor.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Assist with the operation, inspection, maintenance, and adjustment of building electrical systems, including main power distribution, emergency power, HVAC, and lighting.
- Support installation and repair projects, including wiring, circuit connections, breaker panels, control systems, and distribution systems.
- Respond to work orders, preventive maintenance tasks, and facility improvement projects as directed.
- Assist in obtaining bids for electrical maintenance work and verifying contract specifications.
- Participate in planning and execution of electrical setups for events, conventions, trade shows, and construction projects.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
- Follow safety regulations and occupational guidelines, ensuring compliance with industry standards Conduct routine inspections and assist with emergency repairs, both independently and with external vendors.
- Prepare facilities for varying weather conditions and contribute to electrical budgeting discussions.
- Promote excellent internal and external guest services, working collaboratively with event personnel, contractors, and district employees.
- May be required to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or its equivalent.
- Enrollment or recent completion of an accredited electrical trade school or apprenticeship program preferred.
- Basic understanding of electrical systems, wiring, circuits, and distribution principles.
- Familiarity with electrical tools, equipment, and safety standards.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a willingness to learn from a senior electrician.
- Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and technical documents.
- Basic proficiency in MS Word, Excel and AutoCAD preferred.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly with both technical and non-technical personnel.
- Physical ability to perform medium-to-heavy tasks under potentially hazardous conditions.
- Ability to anticipate and react quickly to emergency situations.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors, and the public.
SALARY AND STATUS
