Job summary

HII Mission Technologies in Newport News, VA is seeking Electricians to join the shipyard’s Refueling and Complex Overhaul (RCOH) program. The selected candidate will install, operate and maintain shipboard electrical systems to support the modernization of Navy aircraft carriers and improve safety across the fleet. The role requires a High School or Trade School education, the ability to obtain a DoD security clearance, U.S.

citizenship, and possession of hand tools. Travel is 0–10%.

Qualifications

• Must have High School education or Trade School or equivalent.
• Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.
• Must be able to read and use precision tools.
• Must be able to follow safety procedures to ensure a safe and secure work environment.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD confidential security clearance and maintain clearance level throughout employment.
• Must be able to obtain base access credentials within 60 days of start date and maintain credentials throughout employment.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.

Job Description

Join HII and Mission Technologies where our team works in the only shipyard to execute the Refueling and Complex Overhaul (RCOH) of a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier. The mid-life of RCOH includes refueling of nuclear reactors, overhauling most machinery, and modernizing warfare systems to ensure the Navy's aircraft carriers incorporate improved capabilities needed for success in the remaining 25 years of service. We are seeking Electricians to join our growing team. The selected candidate will be supporting RCOH making an impact on the safety of our US Navy ships by working on electrical systems by installing, operating, maintaining maintenance repairs and technical support on shipboard equipment. Essential Job Responsibilities

Perform duties outside of specialty to complete installation or work assignment.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must have High School education or Trade School or equivalent and 1-6 years of related experience. Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.

• Must be able to read and use precision tools.

• Must be able to follow safety procedures to ensure a safe and secure work environment.

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD confidential security clearance and maintain clearance level throughout employment.

• Must be able to obtain base access credentials within 60 days of start date and maintain credentials throughout employment.

• Must be able to provide hand tools per trade designation.

• Must be a U.S. citizen.

Preferred Requirements

• Candidates who have graduated from and/or completed a vocational school, apprenticeship program or a skilled trades certificate program are preferred.

• Candidates with a current or active DoD clearance preferred.

• OSHA 10 Maritime Certification

• NAVSEA Cableway Improvement certification

• Muli-Pin Connector experience

• Knowledge of Navy Tag Out program, NSTM 300, and 3M manual

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Most work is performed aboard ships or in industrial conditions. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
