THE POSITION

The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, Clarks Summit State Hospital, Facility Services Department, is looking for a skilled, self-motivated Electrician. In this role, you will utilize your electrical skills to provide vital services to hospital patients and staff. Join our team of professionals and advance your career!
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
An Electrician 1 performs skilled tasks according to standard electrical practices and the National Electrical Code, covering all electrical equipment, systems, and fixtures in the facility. Responsibilities include checking pump motors, compressors, related controls, lubricating, repairing, and maintaining electrical equipment. You will handle lighting across the facility, install conduit, switchgear, and controls, locate and fix power failures and shorts, and upgrade or install electrical panels and wiring as needed. The role requires responding swiftly to emergencies to prevent injuries and reporting any issues to your supervisor.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch
- Rotational weekends and on-call holidays (12-person rotation)
- Telework: Not available for this position
- Travel required as needed
- Overtime as needed
- Shift work: No
- Salary: Starting salary may be non-negotiable in some cases

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
Qualifications:
- Successful completion of the Electrician Trainee program (or equivalent), or
- Four years of experience in electrical systems installation, repair, and maintenance, or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training
Special Requirement:
- Valid license as a journey-level electrician issued by Pennsylvania
Other Requirements:
- Meet PA residency requirements
- Able to perform essential job functions
Legal Requirements:
- Pass background investigation
- Undergo medical examination after conditional offer
- Comply with the Older Adult Protective Services Act, including criminal background checks
