Job summary

Seattle Housing Authority is seeking an Electrician to perform maintenance and upkeep of electrical systems across SHA properties in Seattle, WA. The role requires completing an electrical apprenticeship, a WA driver’s license, and state residential/commercial wiring licenses.

You will install and troubleshoot electrical systems, read schematics, and maintain emergency power and lighting, with emphasis on safety and compliance. SHA offers strong benefits and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

  • Formal apprentice training completed or in progress as an electrician.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Washington State driver's license with insurable driving record.
  • State approved license in residential and commercial wiring.
  • First Aid Certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Install, modify, and upgrade electrical and electronic systems in commercial and residential properties.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on electrical equipment.
  • Read and interpret schematics and blueprints.
  • Maintain and repair lighting, controls, and power systems; manage parts procurement.
  • Create maintenance work orders and timesheets.

The position:?

We’re looking for an Electrician to join our team! This role is perfect for someone who can perform maintenance and upkeep of electrical systems for SHA.

The ideal candidate will have:
  • Completion of formal apprentice training work experience as an electrician.
  • High school or equivalent education as required by the trade apprenticeship program.
  • Valid Washington State Driver's License and fully insurable driving record.
  • State approved license in residential and commercial wiring.
  • First Aid Certification required.
What will you do?
  • Install, modify, and upgrade electrical and electronic systems and components in commercial and residential properties.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on electrical and electronic equipment.
  • Read and interpret schematics and blueprints.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair lighting systems, electrical controls, phone systems, automatic doors and gates, emergency power systems, and transfer switches.
  • Purchase or order electrical and electronic supplies as needed.
  • Inspect equipment and recommend actions related to condition, safety, and parts procurement.
  • Instruct tenants on proper use of electrical equipment.
  • Support development and implementation of goals, work plans, performance measures, and continuous improvement; collaborate effectively and work well under pressure.
  • Attend required training and safety meetings; maintain PPE; report injuries, illnesses, and hazardous conditions; follow all safety and health guidelines.
  • Create required reports such as maintenance work orders or timesheets.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
