Job summary

Libbey’s Toledo Plant seeks an Industrial Electrician to install, operate, maintain, and repair electrical systems throughout the facility. You will read schematics, work on high/low voltage equipment, and troubleshoot motors, drives, and robotics to support production uptime.

The role requires Allen Bradley drives/PLC knowledge, PACs, HMIs, and a strong commitment to safe operations. Shift is Mon-Fri 6am-2pm; wage starts at $36.43/hour with a raise to $37.79 effective 10/1/2026, under the union

Qualifications

• Experience troubleshooting electrical systems and reading schematics/ladder logic.
• Ability to work safely with high voltage systems and complex controls.
• Proficiency with Allen Bradley drives, PLCs, PACs, HMIs, and servo technology.

Responsibilities

• Install conduit and wiring for lighting, power circuits, and control equipment.
• Install wiring, motors, drives, and shop equipment per prints and supervisor instructions.
• Safely work on 4160 V, 480 V, 110–220 V, and DC voltages.
• Troubleshoot and repair motors, controls, transformers, electrical instruments, robots, and related equipment.
• Monitor plant systems, compressors, boilers, water systems, and overall electrical infrastructure.
• Operate Powerhouse in coordination with other shift tradesmen.
• Comply with all safety requirements from Plant EHS and wear ARC Flash PPE.
• Must be willing to work swing shift.

Job description

The Industrial Electrician role provides superior maintenance in installing, operating, maintaining, and repairing electric devices and electrical wiring at the Toledo Plant. This includes a variety of tasks relating to setting up and maintaining electrical infrastructure.

Current hourly rate, per the union contract, is $36.43.
**This rate will increase to $37.79, effective 10/1/2026.

Shift schedule is Monday-Friday, 6am-2pm.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Install conduit and wiring for lighting, power circuits, and power control equipment
• Install wiring, motors, drives, and new shop equipment per prints and instructions of the Electrical Shop Supervisor and Electrical Engineers
• Safely work on 4160 Volt, 480 Volt, 110 -220 Volt, and DC Voltages
• Ability to work as a group on construction projects or as an individual
• Troubleshoot and repair all electrical equipment such as A.C. and D.C. motors, controls, transformers, electrical instruments, electronic equipment, limit switches, safety equipment, shrink wrap machine, robots, etc.
• Continuous operation of all electrical equipment
• Analyze and locate source of electrical trouble with a minimum delay
• Must know the location of all sprinkler valve controls and be responsible, in case of fire, for cutting off electrical equipment endangered by the fire
• Monitor plant Systems, compressors, boilers, water, etc.
• Responsible for Powerhouse operations in conjunction with other shift tradesmen
• Complies with all safety requirements set forth by the Plant Environmental Health & Safety Department
• Must wear all PPE required for ARC Flash

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Individuals who possess a state certified journey persons card, or the equivalent for the skill needed, will be considered for hire
• Strong understanding and passion for safe, clean, and organized work environments
• Applied knowledge of effective trouble shooting and root cause analysis
• Able to read schematics and ladder logic
• Understanding or experience with Allen Bradley Drives, Controls, PLC/SLC controllers and drives, PAC’s, AC and Servo Technology, power distribution, relay controls and HMI’s

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Must be willing to work swing shift.
• Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment (noise, high temperature, dust, heights).
• Must pass pre-employment tests including a drug screening, background check , physical, Functional Capacity Exam and respirator test.
