POSITION SUMMARY

An electrician works under the direction of the Maintenance Operations Supervisor and is responsible for evaluating, repairing and installing electrical control, wiring and lighting systems.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • At least three years of experience as an electrician.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Basic computer skills, including internet browsing, emails, spreadsheets and word processing.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
  • Knowledge of electrical control, wiring and lighting systems.
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools and powered equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and diagrams.
  • Ability to perform manual labor both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to interpret demands and organize responses in a fast paced and ever changing work environment.
  • Experience working with a diverse group of people.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in industrial and/or commercial electrical systems.
  • Possession of a valid electrical license recognized by the State Construction Industry Licensing Board (Georgia).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Evaluates, repairs and installs electrical control, wiring and lighting systems.
  • Reads and interprets technical diagrams and blueprints.
  • Inspects, tests and diagnoses issues with transformers, circuit breakers and other electrical components.
  • Installs safety and distribution components such as switches, resistors, circuit breaker panels, etc.
  • Prepares and assembles conduit and connects wiring through them.
  • Tests electrical systems and components to ensure proper function.
  • Performs preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical systems and components.
  • Receives, completes and updates work orders utilizing a work order management system.
  • Utilizes a variety of hand and power tools to repair, maintain and install electrical systems.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

EVALUATION

Performance will be evaluated annually by the Superintendent or designated supervisor in accordance with Policy GBI - Evaluation of Personnel.
