Responsibilities

• Install, modify, repair, troubleshoot, maintain and test complex electrical systems, circuits, equipment, appliances, controls and lighting and fire alarm systems.
• Plan and lay out work using building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams and electrical manuals to ensure safe routing, placement and load of electrical lines and devices.
• Determine and place distribution panels, boxes, fittings, and connections; install wiring, conduits, relays and fixtures.
• Interpret and apply the National Electrical Code and local codes; use calculations for voltage, current and related properties for single and multi-raceway systems.
• Follow safe work practices; perform tasks with attention to heavy lifting and physical demands as described; work schedule typically Monday–Friday 8:00am–4:30pm.

• Works from building plans - blueprints - wiring diagrams - engineering drawings - and electrical maintenance and repair manuals to plan and lay out the routing - placement - type size - gauge - balance - load continuity - and safe operating of electrical lines - circuits - systems - equipment and controls
• Determines and places distribution panels - boxes - fittings - and connections and installs wiring - couplings - conduit - relays - fixtures - transformers and other electrical devices including electrical service entrances
• The work involves installing - modifying - repairing and maintaining electrical lines - circuits - systems - and associated fixtures - controls and equipment
• Troubleshooting - testing - and loading new and existing electrical lines - circuits - systems and associated fixtures - controls and equipment
• Plans and lays out work - tracing hard to locate defects or problems - and completes repairs and installations
• Interprets and applies the National Electrical Code - local codes - building plans - blueprints - wiring diagrams and engineering drawings - and uses trade formulas to calculate common properties - e.g. - voltage - voltage drop and current capability in series and parallel circuits - resistance - inductance - capacitance - power factor - current flow - and temperature and length in single and multiple raceways - conduits - gutters and cable trays
